Scott and Cate are called by a priest to attend to a homeless man found collapsed in a church. The man, John Carpenter, also known as Moses, has wounds through both of his hands, resembling the wounds of Christ, and John becomes convinced that they were a gift from God. Jack's assertions that John wounded himself, in a fit of religious mania, put Terri offside. While Scott and Cate are attending to John, the ambulance is broken into and equipment is stolen. Cate convinces Scott, against his better judgment, that they should go out themselves and search for their missing equipment. The priest, Father Blane, helps them in their search. But simple theft turns to a race against time when, in searching for their gear, they find that the defib has been used to tragic effect on a young street kid.
