Excellent Dramatic Short
15 May 2006 | by incandescent8See all my reviews

I recently saw this film in The Tribeca Film Festival. It was in a program of short films about New York City. It was very thoughtfully put together in the way the story unfolded. The director somehow manged to convey a realistic, urban truthfulness, while still maintaining a filmic, storybook quality. Some of the shots were a bit out of focus, but as always a good story and good acting trump production values. By the way, the director/writer was also the lead actress. As a testament to her acting abilities, I saw her speak in the talk-back and it took me awhile to realize she had just starred in the film I just watched. I guess I wasn't paying attention to the credits. Anyway, it was a beautifully paced, subtle and emotional performance. A very streamlined 10 minute piece. I would recommend this film if you see it around on the festival circuit.
