Storyline

Even black cats shy away from Fumi, a girl with a bad luck foot. It's been so since the moment of her birth. Her left foot is constantly being stabbed, bitten, crushed, run over, and shot. She's tried to protect it, but to no avail. She's miserable. Then one day, almost by accident, she discovers the potential for good - even heroism - because of her affliction. With the right spirit, there's a difference between bad luck and misery. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

This animated short is freakin' awesome
18 February 2008 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

Considering that I have written over 4000 reviews (wow) and this is only the second time I can remember putting the word "freakin'" in a summary, this must be some film. While it was nominated for an Annie Award, I am actually very surprised it didn't receive more notice as it's among the finest shorts I've seen in recent years--and is a bit reminiscent of one of the best children's' books, "Mr. Bump", by Roger Hargreaves. I am also very surprised that this film so far only has a rating of 6.4! So why did I love this film? Well, the animation style was while not the best I've seen, was exceptional and different. But more importantly, the story was exceptionally well-written and charming and had a liberal does of humor thrown in for good measure. Plus, like Mr. Bump, the story has a great object lesson. See this film!! See it NOW!! And then, vote for it on IMDb--it needs and deserves your support!
