Storyline

Archie Williams is a 17-year old media geek who has suddenly found himself the most talked-about kid in school. He has announced that he's going to kill himself- on camera- for a class project. His classmates, parents, Sierra- the most beautiful girl in school, and a "Shady Bunch" of shrinks, doctors, pill-pushers, and counselors descend on Archie. Some are hoping to save him, some want to imitate him, others try to push him over the brink. Archie films every moment of his high school experience, hiding nothing from his audience: realities of life, death, violence, sex, drugs, and the intense media overload and hypocrisy that bombard all teenagers. Brilliant!
28 September 2009 | by heyjude4682See all my reviews

I had no idea at all what to expect when I attended this film's opening. If anything I was a bit leery that the film would leave me feeling heavy hearted and full of memories of those teens who I had known years ago who had suicided.....not necessarily the mood I felt like coming home with from a fun night out. Instead, I left feeling amused and upbeat;the message had been exquisitely wrapped in a way that entertained and yet delivered its message with punch. I sat glued to my seat, fascinated and delighted by this brilliant, humorous, piece of work. My Suicide is a quirky, thoughtful, surprising and wonderful presentation of a very difficult subject which deserves this attention. The delivery was wholly unexpected and purposefully done so. The wild graphics and zany staccato pace of the film perfectly mirrored the troubled hearts and minds of the characters. The acting was superb; genuine soul searching by characters with substance. If the topic of suicide can be entertaining then this incredible film does just that.....all without taking away from the message it brings loud and clear to those who are lucky enough to be watching it.
