Infused with sex, passion and betrayal, SPIN is the story of Latinos striving to attain the American Dream within the sexy Latin Music world of Miami. Though its characters fall prey to their own greed and ambition the story gives hope of redemption. Clichés of the "Latino" of typical Hollywood fare are broken. Latinos "own" the screen in this fresh vision of a world where the American dream, accessible to the driven, comes with choices and consequences. The film targets a crossover English speaking audience with its fast paced, music and dance driven bitter-sweet drama set in the world of the beautiful, the wealthy and the self made Miami Latino music crowd. This English-language film will attract a Spanish and English speaking audience, both in the U.S and Internationally. Written by
Despite good music and pretty faces, film suffers from bad HDV transfer.
Elika Crespo is a pretty face and some of the soundtrack is alright, but the technical aspects and film choices of the movie really butcher the story. While the story is clean, simple, and easy to follow, and the acting is so/so, the main problem of the film is the DVD transfer. I'm willing to overlook a few hings due to what filmmakers can do on a low budget, but eventually, the occasional audio track is not in sync (and it isn't a dub) and the *very* noticeable jerky HDV movement from start to finish overwhelms with distraction. It causes an awkward, slow pace where there shouldn't be any. In addition, the "tech specs" on this page isn't 2:35 but 1:85.
