Yotamono to komachimusume

He's a rough and tough lumberjack, head of the crew, and defender of the mountain they take the trees off from the other crew. She's a local woman, very pretty and very ladylike. Of course, they fall in love, but his crew is composed of comic actors, and here comes the new guy, appointed by the head office, to take over the operation....

It's like fifteen or twenty other B movies -- or the very occasional A --that you've before if you watch movies as indiscriminately as I do. The only real differences are that this is a Japanese movie, and a silent movie.... and I strongly suspect that, despite the writer, Tadao Ikeda, this was always considered to be a programmer at best That's probably why they didn't bother making it a talkie, in the last year of regular silent production in Japan; it allowed better camerawork, and some nice location shooting. Otherwise, it's totally unremarkable.
