This remake of the Finnish movie FC Venus (2005) deals with a male soccer team, Eintracht Imma 95, whose players bet that they would win a match against their wives and girlfriends. Anna and Paul live together in Berlin, but suddenly his old friends from the village where he grew up ask him to help the local soccer club. Under the pretext that he would enjoy a new life in the country, they move to Imma. However, Anna, hating soccer, soon realizes Paul's real motives and has a bet with him: Eintracht Imma 95 plays against its members' wives and girlfriends. If the men win, Anna and Paul remain in the village. If the women win, they will move back to Berlin... Written by Anonymous
This movie is so rich in brilliant ideas and gags, it makes you forget the few weaknesses in the story and the characters.
These minor weak spots are the only reason why the leading actors cannot excel in their usual way. Esp. the role of Christian Ulmen is just to 'normal' for him to show his true talent. Nora Tschirner is well casted, but she also didn't have the opportunity to show what she's capable of (btw, she is very beautiful and charming, hope to see more of her in the future!).
Fortunately, an old football saying applies to this movie: the team is the star. Some of the supporting actors do a very good job in portraying the different types of soccer fanatics resp. their wives.
If you're into football/soccer yourself or you know somebody who is, you're destined to recognise yourself/this person somewhere in the movie.
Definitely worth seeing!
