Storyline

Brian Wicklow is a cultured but extremely dangerous serial killer, imprisoned for the murder of eight women. However a ninth victim, Emma Foley, was never found and inspector Eve Granger with her colleague Ajay Roychowdry are sent to interview Wicklow as to her whereabouts, having been warned that he has a razor sharp mind and will attempt to manipulate them, which he does, demanding more information than he gives. Eve's old flame, toy restorer Jake Osbourne, imprisoned for killing his wife and her lover, a policeman, shared a cell for a while with Wicklow and Eve, courting disapproval as Jake killed a police officer, uses his knowledge in her bid to outwit Wicklow. Ultimately Emma's body is located but in a sense it is as much a victory for Wicklow as for the police. Written by don @ minifie-1

Strong opening episode
11 November 2018 | by Sleepin_DragonSee all my reviews

Cold Blood was definitely a big deal for ITV back in 2005, how I miss that format of drama, one or two long episodes, compared to the six hour long episodes we now get for every single new drama.

Cold Blood was punchy, hard hitting, quite grim in terms of material. It's not a plot that was particularly original, it had been done before, and has been done since, many times. The standout feature, was without a doubt the performance of Matthew Kelly, I can remember at the time thinking how awful, the former You Bet presenter was going to be, but boy did he prove me wrong, the standout performance, and single best thing about this drama, he was incredible, so cold and sinister, what a big surprise. I am so disappointed that he hasn't gone on to do other things, as he clearly can act.

A solid drama, and whilst it's not remarkable for its story, Kelly's performance was exactly that, remarkable. 7/10
