Storyline

Unable to cope with the fact that his girlfriend Tania cheated on him with Manuel, his best friend, Gregorio, a twenty-two year old schizophrenic sets an elaborate revenge plan into motion before taking his own life. He has been in and out of mental hospitals for years. During his time away, his girlfriend and Manuel began an illicit affair. Before long they have fallen in love. Though Gregario and Manuel seem to reconcile after he is discharged from the hospital, everything changes with Gregario commits suicide. Upon his death, Manuel inherits a box of notes, lyrics, and other curiosities from his old friend. Later, he begins receiving unsigned letters quoting Gregario's writings and starts hearing excerpts from the letters in conversation and in the media, leading the unscrupulous friend to fear for his own sanity.

Quotes

Manuel: So, you finally learned how to play, man.
Gregorio: You know why I played so well?
Manuel: What, you jacked off this morning?
Gregorio: No, because of this.
[shows his finger]
Manuel: What?
Gregorio: See this mark? An earwig crawled inside me there.
Manuel: Are you going to start with your bullshit?
Gregorio: No, seriously, man. An earwig crawled inside me and opened up my veins. Now I can get more blood in my brain. More light can come in, man. I think better now.

Very impressing film
1 April 2010 | by nino7070See all my reviews

did not read the book, it would be explain to me more, probably, but looking a film I have drawn absolutely other conclusions - not Gregorio was revenges Manuel, but friends Gregorio (they was betrayed Manuel, too) and own conscience. Manuel the kind, good person, but he have one defect - he should betray and he betrays for the sake of love which he searches in different people and finds, but it does not suffice him, he the addict of love - all women for him is marijuana type, only Tania - opium. I think it's a magnificent film though with it is easy pornography, and Diego Luna creates a fine image of the person lost in the feelings
