At an overpass on the periphery of Rome, a young man, Alessandro, looks down at the traffic. He is holding a rock. Next to him stands a 16-year-old girl, Deborah. He is the adolescent son of Andrea, a rich dealer in religious objects, and she is the daughter of Roberta, a single woman who is struggling to make ends meet, even to the point of prostitution. The two adolescents love each other. Unknown to them, Roberta and Andrea also have a relationship, but of a more mercenary variety. What they have in common is that neither of them communicate with their children. Andrea make a feeble effort at being a macho role model for his son, and Roberta dreams of a rosy future for her daughter. How long can their delusions last?
