But when crew "leader" Ruby is upstaged by Amethyst, she gets angry gives Amethyst the boot from the group. The remaining BFFL take it upon themselves to scare the feuding friends back together - by turning Topaz into an ogre.
When the five Trollz try casting a spell together - to make Coal less of a klutz - there are unexpected consequences! Coal freezes to a block of ice and a terrible earthquake hits Trollzopolis. The girls meet the mysterious Obsidian, who introduces them to the lore of the Trolls. Obsidian takes them to the Ancient World, where the girls overcome obstacles and set things right in the world above.
The BFFL girls discover that their belly Gem's are dimming. A quick fix they try is revealed to be a trick by ogre-dog Snarf (in drag!), who lures them into the Shadow World to free his master, Simon the Gremlin, from eternal incarceration. Only by working together can the girls escape Simon and bring the glow back to their gems.
When Topaz's confidence dwindles during gymnastics, Simon takes advantage of her weak will and possesses her body His plan was troll-proof except for his arrogant attitude and intervention of three surprise Ancients. With the BFFL's help, Topaz regains her confidence and saves the day by kicking Simon into a spinning vortex --a perfect dismount.
On the eve of their big Chemistry final, the BFFL is faced with an even bigger test when Simon returns for revenge. In a late night cram session, studious Sapphire helps the girls crack a chemistry coded list of ingredients for a spell to send Simon straight back to the Shadow World. The Girls learn that a study session a day keeps Simon away.
Sapphire falls hair over heels for Mica, a skootz-racing senior. Blinded by his good looks (and maybe his racing lights) Sapphire doesn't realize she's just being used to help Mica build a super-skoot! The BFFL come to rescue Sapphire from the fast crowd -literally- but it's not until a narrow escape from Officer Irons that she comes to her senses... just in time for some revenge on her first beau.
Like a fly they just can't swat, menacing Mica returns and demands to have a skootz-race rematch. After the BFFL put Onyx through training to rival Rocky Balboa's, it's race time. On your mark. Engines set. GO! The race runs perfectly, and Onyx is in the lead, but when things get dangerous for Mica, will Onyx go for gold or put pride aside to save Mica from a macabre make-over?
Their racing days finally catch up with them and the BFFL have to face their hardest enemy yet, the law! After fulfilling their punishment at the Old Trollz Home, old troll Fossil lets the girls off for good behavior. To thank him, the BFFL fight past mud monsters and stone ogres in the Haunted Woodz for Fossil's old toy Gobby. When Mica rides on their coat-tails and tries to steal their credit, he learns cheaters never prosper.
When Jasper decides to have a party, Topaz is left Trolled over by the love train and will do anything for an invite. In an effort to win him over, Topaz uses spells to first change herself then accidentally changes Jasper into a sneaky geek. As per Cinderella rules, the BFFL have 'til midnight to change Jasper back into Topaz's sweetie-pumpkin-- but can they escape detention first??
To avoid ridicule from friends, Sapphire returns her new pair of shoes only to purchase another fashion emergency, a magic mirror pendant. When the magic mirror flatters Sapphire's ballooning ego, her head gets stuck in the clouds and she accidentally opens a magic portal! The friendly face from the mirror was Simon! Only the magic of the five can bring Sapphire back down to earth - pun intended.
While the BFFL are busy trying to follow Ruby's party rules, Snarf - disguised as cute troll Gravel - crashes Jasper's party. Someone tell Snarf it's not a costume party. Going goo-goo for Gravel, Ruby splits up the group, a perfect chance for Simon to make a guest appearance The girlz need to kiss and make-up if they ever want to get back to the party, NO SIMONS ALLOWED.
When Ruby "borrows" and loses Amethyst's Grandma's ancient ring, the girls learn the hard way the difference between borrowing and stealing. No need to worry, as long as the BFFL find the powerful ring before it gets into the wrong hands...Wait!-- What's that on Simon's finger? The ancient ring! It seems that all hope is lost for the Trollzopolis Dayz Faire until Coal saves the day and shows Simon that chivalry isn't dead.
Frocks and stocks come back into style when Simon makes a roaring return and spells Trollzopolis back into the Middle Ages. While the rest of town is caught doing the time warp, the girls are on the run from Sheriff Snarf and one love sick Ogre. To bring the town back to date the girls must free Obsidian and the rest from Simon's spell. Willst thou saveth the day?
The girls are on the run from Sheriff Snarf's ogre deputies when the come upon the perfect way to sneak into "King" Simon's castle: disguised as a traveling troupe of male actors (girls were not allowed). Just before Simon's massive clockwork magic-absorber can suck all of the magic out of Olde Worlde Trollzopolis, Sapphire's clever adjustments send the magic streaming back - and send Simon and Snarf flying out of town. Trollzopolis is changed back to its loud, bright, modern self.
Frustrated by Obsidian's refusal to reveal the identities of the other two Ancients. Onyx and Topaz go on a midnight mission to unmask the mysterious missing Ancients. Following a vision from a dream, Onyx leads the way to find Zirconia - an Ancient who's been trapped transformed into a tree. The two save Zirconia from captivity, but its Obsidian who saves all three from becoming dragon fired rotisserie.
It's that special night of the school year: Homecoming. The Trollball game is the main attraction until Simon decides it's his turn to play. Rampaging around with his fire breathing dragon, Simon threatens to totally ruin Homecoming! Topaz must face her fears and team up with feeble, failing Zirconia if she wants to save the day. Forget about making homecoming queen, first the BFFL must make it home ALIVE.
Still frustrated about not having found her Ancient, Onyx makes a return visit to the Haunted Woodz. Unfortunately, Onyx falls into the hands of Simon who transforms her into a tree - déjà vu anybody? Things get scaly when the angry dragon returns...but wait, he's helping her escape! Apparently he was never a mean dragon, just a misunderstood old Ancient transformed into a dragon - with a case of REALLY bad breath!
On the way back from a school field trip to the History of Magic Museum, Rock's jealousy of the girls' magic starts a foolish fight. After Ruby's anti-Rock spell ends up shutting down both the bus and Mr. Slate, the Trollz are stranded in the woods with only ravenous Ghost Dogs for company! The boys must leave their jealousy behind and cooperate to get the magic school bus moving again. The wheels on the bus...
In an effort to solve their own problems, without asking for assistance, the girls perform a spell that has disastrous results! Evil Snarf is released from the "Ancient World" and the girls do not know how to return him.. Fortunately homeroom teacher Mr. Slate and wise Obsidian come to their aid just in time to save our crew from the snarling Snarf. If only the girls had asked for help sooner the entire disaster may have been avoided.
According to Obsidian, our Trollz have until sunrise to find a tree trunk from the Haunted Woodz to replace the Sacred Altar. After playing the blame game, our Trollz decide that in order to mend the magic mishap, they must first trust each other. Finding the tree isn't much of a problem...but the Cyclops guarding it might be! Without any magic it seems the Cyclops has the upper hand - not to mention a MUCH bigger one.
It's the Tenth Annual BFFL day, ten years of friendship, NOTHING can get in between our Trollz except... Garnet! The new girl in school breaks up BFFL, but Ruby soon discovers Garnet's true identity! The other girls are brainwashed, but a revealing reflection in the Mystic Fallz breaks the spell. Garnet's no troll, she's SIMON! The BFFL reunite at the camp site to send "Garnet" packing...for good!
When the rest of the BFFL gets rude and rowdy, Ruby becomes suspicious. What could make the girls turn their classmates into chimps? What could make them cast a spell on the principal? What could make them brainwash Trollzopolis?? SIMON. Apparently the evil hypnotic cookies Simon fed them at Mystic Fallz weren't duds after all, just a time release, and time is up for Trollzopolis.
Simon has gained complete control over Trollzopolis. Mr. Slate informs Ruby, Rock, and Coal, that the only way to end this ruthless regime is to travel back to the origin of evil - Simon's home. As soon as they find Simon's weakness, the brainwashed BFFL finds them! Coal's compassion brings them back to normal while Rock hard skull crushes Simon's old trophy and destroys his powers...now that's using your head!
School's out for vacation and the BFFL are ready to party! Vacation has a slow start until the girls go on a secret trip to Trollhiti to visit recuperating Ancients Spinell and Zirconia. Unfortunately, Topaz has trouble keeping quiet and when the secret is leaked, Simon grabs his sun block and goes tropical. Simon pays his own surprise visit to the two Ancients, but the Power of the Five cuts his trip short.
Now that Simon is gone, it's time to have some fun in the sun! Surfs up! But when some local surfing studs take the BFFL out to sea, they encounter a sea monster that would make Jaws tremble. To turn off the stirred-up, monster-making magic and prove she's not afraid to help (or swim), Sapphire must follow her new Ogre friend to the secret cove of the sea monster and save her friends.
The BFFL have a problem: Not only is their vacation time winding down but so is their patience! As the girls lose all control of their temper, their anger causes the eruption of Mt. Krakatrolla. Having wasted their magic fighting, the girls must combine what's left to put the volcano to rest. The girls escape with bad hair but at least they'll be alive long enough to fix it
