If you were a baby-boomer growing up in Hawaii, this was probably the sound of your afternoon. In those days of three channels and latchkey kids, this is how you eased out of your school day.
Simple games, cartoons, and the antics of a bunch of offbeat characters were absolutely free of stress and socially-instructive content. But it was good fun and didn't seem to cause any damage in the long run. Parents didn't need to worry and kids didn't need to obsess. In retrospect, it was just sweet silliness that was exactly what a kid needed to be a kid.
