Essentially an advert with the narrative of such but strong ending
14 October 2007 | by bob the mooSee all my reviews

A young man sits in English class oblivious to the lesson since he is plugged into his headphones and some hip hop music. When his player is taken away by the teacher, he has to endure the rest of the day painfully involved in the reality of the day. When he gets home though, it is a different matter.

If I hadn't known that this had been made for an Adidas I would have made suggested that this film would have worked as an advert for a sports wear company. As it is that it what the film appears to have been aiming for anywhere because it does have the narrative of an advert. The simple plot sees a pupil bored during the day but freed up in the evening to really express himself through break dancing. It is a simple plot that has nothing to really offer in terms of substance but fortunately it also has the visual style of an advert. The classroom scenes are OK but the concluding dance is impressive and well shot. The dancer (Lee) is excellent and the simple set and lighting make for a striking effect.

Essentially this is not a short film so much as a free advert for Adidas and has the narrative weaknesses of such, but the visual style and break-dancing is striking enough to make it worth checking out.
