Destitute loner Bucky Buckwalter becomes obsessed with a wealthy man whose family are the victims of a brutal slaying. Excessive media coverage convinces Bucky that this man, Eric Chandler, is guilty of murdering his own family. Bucky forces his meager best friend Travis to help him hold Eric hostage with the intent of extracting a confession from him by any means necessary.
