The mystery surrounding the lead actor who is to play (late) Aarushi in the Manish Gupta's film Rahasya was more mysterious than the real case itself. Readers may recollect Sakshi as the curly haired little girl in many ad commercials and films like Darna Zaroori Hai and Ajay Devgn's Raju Chacha. Talking about how she bagged the role, she said that Manish just offered her the part and she replied positively without even looking at the script. She added that in order to prepare for the role, she has been following the case in totality. Dibakar all for anthologies a la 'Bombay Talkies'

Dibakar all for anthologies a la 'Bombay Talkies'
Mumbai, May 1: Director Dibakar Banerjee wonders why a lot of filmmakers aren't attempting anthologies like "Bombay Talkies". He feels that the concept is beneficial for filmmakers as well as for audiences.

In 2006, Ram Gopal Varma's "Darna Zaroori Hai" featured six stories by six different directors - J.D. Chakravarthy, Manish Gupta, Prawal Raman, Sajid Khan, Jijy Philip and Vivek Shah. In 2007, "Dus Kahaniyaan" was a similar sort of project.

Now comes "Bollywood Talkies", an amalgamation of four short films by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Banerjee. It releases Friday.

"I am very surprised that.

Bipasha to star in horror film Aatma

Bipasha to star in horror film Aatma
After Raaz, Darna Zaroori Hai and the yet to release Raaz 3, Bipasha Basu has signed her forth horror film titled Aatma. Aatma, directed by Suparn Varma of Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and Acid Factory fame, revolves around Bipasha's character and her experience with a spirit.

A set has been specially built on the 21st floor of a building in Andheri for the shooting of Aatma as the story takes place in an apartment in a building. The film has a major twist in the climax and to maintain the confidentiality, only Bipasha, director Suparn Varma and the producers, Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak have the complete script.

Interestingly, Bipasha herself is very scared of horror films and covers her eyes with her hands and watches horror films through the gaps between her fingers, but that doesn't stop her from acting in supernatural thrillers.

Anurag Sudhir Rituparno come together
Vidya Balan just told her 'kahaani' successfully while a few years ago Sanjay Gupta too had a vision to present Dus Kahaniyaan in a feature film format. Though the film didn't do many wonders at the box office, it was acclaimed for it's unique presentation and the fact that it boasted of a huge A list star cast. Circa 2012 and the feat is being taken one level higher up with a film which has, hold your breath, 11 stories. Titled Mumbai Cutting, the film tells 11 stories - each of which has Mumbai as its setting. Interestingly the film is ready for over four years and is now finally gearing up for release on 29th June.

Iffla 2011 Diary: Onir’s I Am

Iffla 2011 Diary: Onir’s I Am
Onir’s I Am has already gained pre-release reputation as the first crowd-sourced film in Hindi cinema. Laudable achievement indeed! If that gave him the independence to make the kind of film he wanted, this development bodes well for crowd sourcing. It is a testimony to the integrity of the artist to have molded that energy into something meaningful. For a strategic Saturday night viewing in Los Angeles, the film brought full theater and loud applause in the end, bright signs for the kind of film it is and for Onir himself, whose presence was sorely missed.

I Am is an anthology of four stories by one director. There isn’t enough space here to quibble about the exact term for this form, which presents multiple (here: four) short films thematically linked together, let us note that over the past two decades or so, world cinema has witnessed resurgence of
