Could this be any cooler?

Friends star Matthew Perry is heading to Courteney Cox's TBS sitcom Cougar Town for a season-five guest stint, marking a reunion for the two former co-stars months after they appeared on NBC's Go On together.

Details on Perry's role will be announced shortly, TBS said in its Wednesday announcement. This marks the latest Friends alum to appear on Cougar Town; Jennifer Aniston dropped by in the season-two premiere and Lisa Kudrow appeared in a season one episode.

Lionsgate Inks Drama Pact with Tandem

London — Lionsgate has inked a co-venture pact with Munich-based production company Tandem Communications to develop and produce one-hour drama series.

Crime drama “Sex, Lies and Handwriting” is the first project in development, and is intended to follow a straight-to-series model similar to Tandem’s crime series “Crossing Lines,” which airs on NBC. In addition to Lionsgate and Tandem, Sea To Sky Entertainment, Lionsgate’s Canadian joint venture partner, will also be producing the project.

The series will be “a witty new take on the crime series,” according to a statement from the partners. It follows the exploits of Leslie Bold, an accomplished artist and handwriting expert — with her own newspaper column on the subject — who is unexpectedly drawn into the world of crime-solving because of her skills.

Inspired by Michelle Dresbold’s book of the same title, the drama will be written by co-executive producer Annie Brunner (“Against The Wall,

The Best Of Matthew Perry, From '90210' To 'Go On'
Since Matthew Perry said goodbye to Chandler Bing on "Friends," he's been associate White House counsel on "West Wing," an air traffic controller on "Scrubs," a teacher in "The Ron Clark Story," an executive producer on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," an operations manager on "Mr. Sunshine" and a lawyer on "The Good Wife."

Friday round-up: previews, cast interviews and new projects

This is the first part of the weekend monster update, with more news & stuff coming in the next couple of days.

I got my Grimms confused in yesterday's post as it turns out. Tonight's episode won't be "Let Your Hair Down," but "The Three Bad Wolves." Rapunzel doesn't show up until next week.

Nick (David Giuntoli) is called to a suspected arson case, which exposes a longstanding family feud that brings Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) face-to-face with characters from his troubled past. While Monroe wrestles with restraining his wild side, it’s up to Nick to keep everything from going up in flames. Russell Hornsby, Bitsie Tulloch, Sasha Roiz and Reggie Lee also star. There are a few sneak peeks at THR and Dread Central. Spoiler TV has the promotional stills. Here is the teaser:

Yesterday's excellent "Danse Macabre," which did well in the ratings, is available on NBC.com.

New interview with Sasha Roiz and the weekend monster update

Let's start the weekly round-up with Grimm.

Grimm's ratings dropped a little this week, but the show still won the 18-49 demo in its timeslot, finishing ahead of CSI: NY, Fringe and Supernatural, and rising by a full frakking ratings point (1.8) after Chuck (0.8). Wake up, Chuck.

Hitfix visited the set in Portland recently and posted a lengthy report. Here is a snippet:

Sasha Roiz on how his character will develop later in the series: "I’m not a Grimm descendent, but I'm a descendent of a long line that dates back just as Grimm does and we have a bit of a history and a past, so my line is a royal line and that will slowly unfold throughout the series."Collider has a longer interview with Sasha and Reggie Lee (more at the link):

It’s nice to see your character – like the main character – has the duality.

Actresses Casting Directors Love: Part 3

Pamela Guest on Julia RobertsIn 1985 or '86, I was hired to cast "Blood Red," an independent film starring Eric Roberts and directed by Peter Masterson, thanks to my mentor and friend Ellen Chenoweth. I had to go to New York to cast, and because Pete had connections at the Actors Studio, we held our auditions there. In Eric's contract was a clause that we had to either cast or audition his younger sister for a part in the film—I can't remember which. She'd been in New York a short time, and Eric wanted to help her get a start. The producer asked me to meet her, read her, and decide whether including her in the cast would ruin the movie. I spoke to her manager, Bob McGowan, about setting up a time, and he convinced me to just meet her that night. I agreed to a quick meet-and-greet at

Summer 2009 TV Preview

Lesbian/bi visibility on primetime American television this summer is not much better than it is the rest of the year — which is to say, it's pretty slim pickings.

Among the shows premiering or returning in the next few weeks, there are a few with supporting lesbian/bi characters (Mental, The Closer); one with an out actress in a supporting role (Hawthorne); and a reality show featuring two out female contestants (Top Chef Master).

Here's a review of the pilot or first new episode(s) of all four series, and a short list of the premiere/air dates of other shows that may interest you.

Warning: some mild spoilers, but no major plot points revealed

Mental (Drama, Fox)

Dates: Tuesdays at 9pm Pst/Est, premiering May 26

Cast: Chris Vance (Prison Break), Annabella Sciorra (Queens Supreme, The L Word), Derek Webster (Stargate), Jacqueline McKenzie (4400), Marisa Ramirez (General Hospital), Nicholas Gonzalez (CSI: Miami
