Gaspar Noé ‘Couldn’t Stop Laughing’ While Watching Lars Von Trier’s Controversial Serial Killer Film ‘House That Jack Built’

Gaspar Noé ‘Couldn’t Stop Laughing’ While Watching Lars Von Trier’s Controversial Serial Killer Film ‘House That Jack Built’
[Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Lars von Trier’s “The House That Jack Built.”]

The films of Gaspar Noé have included a brutal 10-minute rape scene and a 3D male ejaculation, which means it takes a whole lot more than a serial killer murdering children and mutilating young women to disturb him. The aforementioned killings are included in Lars von Trier’s “The House That Jack Built,” and they’re part of the reason the film caused walkouts and severe outrage during and after the movie’s premiere at Cannes. Unsurprisingly, Noé had no issues with von Trier’s controversial violence.

“I thought it was so funny!” Noé told Vulture about watching “The House That Jack Built” at Cannes. “Lars von Trier has a very cold humor, but I enjoyed it so much. It’s like a Todd Solondz movie, so dark. All the sadistic scenes were so funny that people were staring at me

A24 Buys Gaspar Noé’s Acclaimed Drug Trip Movie ‘Climax’ Out of Cannes 2018

A24 Buys Gaspar Noé’s Acclaimed Drug Trip Movie ‘Climax’ Out of Cannes 2018
A24 has purchased domestic rights to “Climax,” the new film from Gaspar Noé that earned rave reviews over the weekend after its premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. The film, starring “Star Trek: Beyond” and “Atomic Blonde” actress Sofia Boutella, has been described as “Step Up” meets “Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom.” The story centers on members of a dance troupe who descend into madness during a celebration. IndieWire’s Eric Kohn wrote that “Climax” might just be Noé’s best film to date.

“‘Climax’ shares much in common with the levitating camerawork of his divisive ‘Enter the Void,’ but unlike that sprawling endeavor, this 96-minute odyssey feels like just the right length to encapsulate his talent for disorienting viewers while inviting them into his madcap intentions of overtaking their senses,” Kohn wrote in his A- review out of Cannes. “It’s certainly the best snapshot of a talented filmmaker

Teaser Trailer for Gaspar Noé's Latest Film 'Climax' Playing at Cannes

"Une sangria." The first teaser trailer has debuted for the latest film from controversial filmmaker Gaspar Noé, known for his films I Stand Alone, Irreversible, Enter the Void, and Love previously. His new film is titled Climax, and it just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend to quite a bit of buzz. Despite the sultry title, the film isn't so much about sex as it is about a group of dancers and a lot of sangria, or something like that. Of course, there is sexuality and all kinds of crazy things going on, because it wouldn't be a Gaspar Noé without all of that. The initial reviews are considerably positive, praising it as a Gaspar Noé version of Step Up crossed with all kinds of other things. This is a fun first teaser that gives you an idea of some of the craziness that's in this, and I'm

Cannes Report, Day 5: Salma Hayek Sounds Off, Gaspar Noé Redeemed

Cannes Report, Day 5: Salma Hayek Sounds Off, Gaspar Noé Redeemed
It’s raining in France as we reach the halfway point of this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where a gender parity conversation has taken center stage and filmmakers continue to serve up their wares.

Speaking at the annual Kering Women in Motion panel, Salma Hayek touched on the scorched-earth op-ed she wrote last year about working with disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Polarizing provocateur Gaspar Noe returns after his 3D sexcapade “Love” from 2015 — and managed to win over critics with a dance-infused horror film (we’ll still never forgive him for this poster).

‘Climax’ Review: Gaspar Noé’s Psychedelic Ride Is a Drug Trip That Goes Very Wrong in a Movie That Feels Just Right — Cannes 2018

‘Climax’ Review: Gaspar Noé’s Psychedelic Ride Is a Drug Trip That Goes Very Wrong in a Movie That Feels Just Right — Cannes 2018
In “Climax,” the camera twirls around, peering up and down at its doomed characters as they careen into the depths of a drug-induced frenzy, as hypnotic beats dominate the soundtrack. Yet no matter its nauseating effects, Gaspar Noé’s remarkable psychedelic ride is his most focused achievement, a concise package of sizzling dance sequences and jolting developments that play like a slick mashup of the “Step Up” franchise and “Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom,” not to mention the disorienting cinematic trickery of Noé’s own provocative credits.

“Climax” shares much in common with the levitating camerawork of his divisive “Enter the Void,” but unlike that sprawling endeavor, this 96-minute odyssey feels like just the right length to encapsulate his talent for disorienting viewers while inviting them into his madcap intentions of overtaking their senses.
