The New Actor Hierarchy: Oscar's Most Beloved Male Stars

Leonardo DiCaprio is now an Oscar winner but where does he stand in history?

If you're feeling celebratory -- and we've all lived through his rise into cinematic legend so why shouldn't we? -- you really need to check out this cute video of Leo getting his Oscar engraved or this silliness of a party of bros celebrating his win like mad men (hey it's better than the bro-ness of the pussy posse reuniting) or the once mocking memes that have turned into odes to Leo Joy. Good funny stuff.

Even if you weren't enamored with The Revenant (*raises hand*) or find it downright suspect, his filmography is so loaded with memorable films that surely anyone can find one therein to direct all their feelings towards in this momentous week for the 41 year old superstar. I'm choosing to view the Oscar as a career achievement Oscar for specifically prompted by Gilbert Grape,

Show Premise

Highly successful lingerie company owners and married couple Alan and Lee Arnold decide to retire from their CEO position and name their non identical twin daughters as their successors. The two sisters, Mitchee and Farrah, couldn’t be more different from one another if they tried. Oddly, the two take after their parents almost exactly, with Mitchee taking after her father, who is brainy, uptight, and reserved, while Farrah takes after Lee, an alluring, uninhibited, and seemingly vapid blonde. It would seem that for the parents, the notion of “opposite attracts” is what brought them together, but for the two sisters,

Game of Thrones, Ep. 4.02: “The Lion and the Rose” grandly conceived, brilliantly executed

Game of Thrones, Season 4, Episode 2: “The Lion and the Rose”

Written by George R.R. Martin

Directed by Alex Graves

Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on HBO

As per usual, kindly avoid revealing future book spoilers in the comments.

It would be an understatement to say the “The Lion and the Rose” merely lives up to its hype; it nearly destroys the meaning of hype. Alex Graves directs an extraordinary instalment, grandly conceived, brilliantly executed and incredibly entertaining. It has passion, raw emotion, true terror, and a palpable sense of evil. Despite knowing George R. R. Martin insists on ending each wedding with a gruesome death, as a non-book reader, I was shocked with the end result. It’s also worth mentioning that Martin himself wrote this particular episode, only the third after “Blackwater” and “The Bear and the Maiden Fair.” This time around, he’s given us a royal wedding and in doing so,

Game of Thrones Recap: It's a Nice Day for a Purple Wedding

Game of Thrones Recap: It's a Nice Day for a Purple Wedding
What do they call the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral in Westeros? Five Funerals! That may be an exaggeration, but you know the concept of matrimony is in trouble in the seven kingdoms when an adult dwarf marrying a teenage girl who hates him is the least-depressing of all the nuptials we've seen on Game of Thrones. Sunday night's much-anticipated royal wedding episode continued the trend, with one high-profile member of the wedding party biting the dust in memorable fashion. But like a good wedding, "The Lion and the Rose" made sure we were entertained even before the closing-act fireworks.

R.I.P. TV Writer Lester Lewis

Updated: Comedy TV writer Lester Lewis, who worked on The Office, died last night. He was 46. Lester most recently wrote and executive produced a “shortcom” project for Fox starring Michael Kosta, which the two co-created. It is eyed for the network’s summer Short-Com Comedy Hour series. Earlier this season, Lewis worked as a consulting producer on David Kohan and Max Mutchnick’s CBS comedy series Partners, having previously served as co-executive producer on Kohan and Mutchnick’s NBC series Four Kings. “We are devastated by the loss of this incredible man and brilliant writer,” Kohan and Mutchick said. “We had the privilege of working with him on two shows. They were both joyous experiences. Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife and children at this time.” Lewis was a consulting producer on NBC’s Emmy-winning Office, where he spent four seasons. TVLine Items: Beauty Gets a Shrink, BSG Fave Visits Arrow, Sytycd Renewed and More!
Beauty and the Beast‘s Catherine may want to check if she has any tells, because TVLine has learned that onetime Lie to Me lie detector Brendan Hines is joining the CW drama as a police department psychologist who will get inside the pretty detective’s head — “or at least tries to,” says exec producer Sherri Cooper.

Cooper says that with Hines’ seemingly mild-mannered shrink come questions, such as, “Who does he work for? How much does Catherine open up to him? Does she trust him?” The Ep also teases “good chemistry” between the characters.

'Will & Grace' Creators on Bringing the Autobiographical 'Partners' to Life, Several Versions Later
During its eight-season run on NBC, Will & Grace was nominated for 83 Emmys and won 16. At its peak, it averaged 17.3 million viewers every week and ranked in the top ten shows on TV. It's also been credited, most recently by Vice President Joe Biden, with helping educate Americans on gay issues. The years since haven't brought that same level of success for co-creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick -- follow-ups Four Kings and $#*! My Dad Says both lasted just one season -- but with Monday's premiere of Partners, they're making another play for sitcom

New CBS comedy 'Partners': Did it already air on Fox ... 17 years ago?

We here at Zap2it noticed something a little strange in looking at the resume of TV legend James Burrows ("Taxi," "Cheers," "Friends") Wednesday morning (May 16) following the CBS upfronts announcement of their new 2012-13 lineup: "Partners," a new comedy for which Burrows directed the pilot, is already on his list of credentials -- a sitcom from 1995 also named "Partners."

And there are more similarities than just Burrows as a director. CBS describes "Partners" as "two life-long best friends and business partners whose 'bromance' is tested when one of them is engaged to be married." The lead characters (played by David Krumholtz and Michael Urie) are architects, and Krumholtz's fiancee is named Ali.

The 1995-96 comedy from Fox is described as "Best friends Bob and Owen work together as aspiring young architects on the rise, their relationship complicated by Owen's recent engagement to Alicia."

Weird, right? Disappointingly, co-creator David Kohan

"Desperate Housewives" Wrap Party -- Which Two Stars Were Missing?

  • TooFab
Is there a feud in the neighborhood? The ladies of Wisteria Lane -- Felicity Huffman, Brenda Strong, Vanessa Williams and Eva Longoria -- came together Sunday night for the "Desperate Housewives" wrap party.Noticeably missing? Costars Marcia Cross and Teri Hatcher (we're assuming Nicollette Sheridan didn't get an invite due to her legal battle with "Housewives" honcho Marc Cherry). It seems odd that Marcia and Hatcher would miss the celebration since they have been with the show since the beginning. Calls to their reps were not returned. The wrap party was still a star-studded affair, with "Houswives" hunks James Denton and Doug Savant with their wives. Vanessa even hit the red carpet with her mother! Check out the pics below:a number of the stars have already lined up their post-"Housewives" gigs.Teri will guest star and make her directorial debut on "Jane By Design."Vanessa is joining the cast

Alcatraz Pilot Series Premiere Review

Alcatraz is Fox's latest "hit" show and Bad Robot's latest offering to the world of sci-fi/mystery/procedural crime television. It has already been hailed by some critics as the best new show on TV and a game changer for the Fox network.

I watched the first half of the pilot, then had to stop viewing and attend to some fatherly things. As I watched the first 30 minutes I was excited at what I was seeing, like I was bearing witness to the next Lost, which having Jorge Garcia in my face definitely helped. When I sat down to finish watching the show, I decided to watch it all anew, no interruptions, no distractions. I am probably going to get a lot of guff for this, but this may be the worst pilot episode I have seen, ever, and I watched the pilot for Four Kings.

There is a lot of style in Alcatraz.

NBC - The story of a downfall

10 years ago, NBC programs ranked among the most watched on television. In 2001/2002, the peacock had launched successful new series such as Law & Order : Criminal Intent, Crossing Jordan and Scrubs, not knowing that in the following 4 years, they would produce only 5 successful new shows while countless failed, prefiguring the crisis they're into since 2007, a crisis they don't seem to be able to get out of.

In 2002/2003, American Dreams was the only new show that worked, all the other were cancelled : sitcoms In-Laws (15 episodes), Ausa (12 episodes, 4 unaired) and Hidden Hills (18 episodes, 5 unaired), and dramas Kingpin (6 episodes) and Minister Sterling (10 episodes). Both Boomtown and Good Morning Miami were renewed for a second season scheduled for 2003/2004 but halfway through it, they were both cancelled, they ended in December 2003.

During the 2003/2004 season, Las Vegas was the only successful new series, the others were axed : dramas Miss Match (18 episodes, 7 unaired) and The Lyon's Den (13 episodes,
