Storyline

Griffin is divorced, living in a flat in Manhattan while his sons and ex live in the family home in Westchester. He gets bad news from his oncologist: cancerous lesions have spread through his chest, and he has only a year or so to live. He audits a psychology class on death and dying at a nearby college where he chats up a woman who turns out to be an assistant dean. She's Phoenix; she smiles but keeps her distance, warming to him slowly. He tells her nothing of his situation. At his apartment a few days later, she finds a stash of books on death, dying, and terminal illness: will she put two and two together, and what will she do about it? Goofs

At the beginning of the movie the doctor tells Griffin that he has like 12 to 14 lesions in his lungs and gives him about 2 years to live. It might be possible to extend his life that long, but only with chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy. But if Griffin was that far along, and he did not get any treatments, he would surely be weak, tired, coughing, weight loss etc... later on in the movie. The disease would start to worsen sooner rather than later. See more »

i cant believe this movie never came to the theaters. they both should receive an award for there portray of the character's in the movie. they had to really feel the pain of loving each other so much even though they were dying. my mother has cancer and is in remission right now. i cried more than i have ever been able to cry since i found out about her cancer. i thank them both for letting me to finally cry. i think that there should be more movies that make people understand how precious life is and to live each day like it is your last. time is so short and we spend everyday wishing it away. i know everyone who watches this movie will cry and laugh at the same time. i thank both of the actors for putting there heart into this movie.
