Sex & Nudity

  • Around 1 or 2 sex scenes per season, never that explicit. The most explicit contain thrusting and implied orgasms.
  • Occasional porn references. Sometimes magazines are shown but never any nudity.
  • Season 2 Episode 2 Dean kisses someone
  • Season 2 Episode 22 there is a part where Dean kisses somebody
  • In season 4 Episode 13 Dean kisses two girls
  • Episode 4 of the fifth season, Castiel implies an orgy is about to take place (It is never shown)
  • Nudity is usually limited to shirtless guys or the naked backs of women.
  • Occasional sexual references.

Violence & Gore

  • This series is very violent. Lots of blood and gore shown from episode to episode depending on the type of monster the Winchesters are hunting.
  • It is nearly impossible to see an episode without a death in it and the violence gets more intense as the show goes on. Decapitated bodies with their heads lying next to them and lots of stabbing and shooting, but most of it is against monsters.
  • Human as well as non-human monsters are shown dying throughout the series.
  • In the shows 9th season, a character is shown excessively stabbing somebody. Blood is seen on the knife and his hands, when the camera pans out the victim is seen bleeding out. Pretty graphic.
  • Many instances of characters limbs getting decapitated but most are against monsters or vampires.
  • Quite a few instances of cannibalism but graphic
  • A lot of the actual moments of violence happens on screen, but blood splatter is usually seen.
  • The amount of violence in this show for a cable show is big time and people can be disturbed by it
  • This show contains violence and frightening scenes
  • In one episode a vampire is decapitated with a wire. Probably one of the more violent moments in the series.
  • There's tons of fighting scenes in this show.
  • Lots of decapitations in this show, lots of blood spray
  • Every episode the main characters are killing monsters.
  • The shows first 5 seasons are the most violent of the show, the show is still really violent but they went more all out with the first 5 because of the showrunner
  • Blood is fairly high, but gore is high
  • Excessive graphic violence including fatalities by fire, gunshot, stabbing, beheading, explosions, and suicide.
  • Supernatural beings are always killed off in some ritualistic way, sometimes involving beheading or dismemberment.
  • Most episodes begin with a murder victim being killed in a bizarre fashion, which leads to investigation by the Winchesters. Athough the aftermath is show.

Profanity

  • The profanities used are mostly mild, but they are used very frequently
  • Fairly common uses of "ass", "bitch", "damn", "hell", and "crap", as well as some miscellaneous other mild profanities. In later seasons "dick" is often used as an insult.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Several characters are alcohol dependent.
  • Most episodes end with Sam and Dean drinking beers. Several scenes in bars featuring drunk people.
  • Some episodes have featured references to hard drug use, but nothing is actually depicted.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Lots of Jump scares
  • There are lots seriously intense scenes, some extremely violent and some extremely deep emotional moments and choices.
  • Bloody violence and sexual content increase with each season.
  • Though season 1 is the darkest of the series, Supernatural gets very intense by season 3 and 4, with at least 2 main characters dying in the season. The final episodes of all seasons are the most violent and intense.
  • Lots of intense scenes on this show, it's to the point where it can be very emotional and violent.
  • This is a very intense and frightening show
  • Lots of moments that can make a person upset or disturbed
  • One episode there's a guy that ties up monster and people and tortures them and more can be very disturbing
  • There's a scene where a man cuts another person's neck and drinks their blood afterwards.
  • There's tons of torture scenes in this show that is shown and disturbing, but most are against demons or vampires
  • Many frightening and intense scenes including; creatures, people being attacked, and several scenes are shot in hell.

Sex & Nudity

  • In Season 1 Ep. 3 Dean and Cassie make out twice before they get into bed. No nudity is shown though they both are not wearing shirts.
  • Season 1 Episode 2 Dean kisses Haley
  • Season 1 Episode 3 Dean kisses Andrea
  • Episode 1 Episode 20 Dean kisses Kate
  • Season 2 Episode 15 Dean kisses Starla
  • Season 5 episode 14 there's a random couple making out before violently ripping into each other's flesh and biting chunks out of each other. Contains lots of blood and moaning.

Violence & Gore

  • Decapitation of vampires through out the series
  • Season 5 A man is beaten to a pulp and killed by a long metal hook. He is hit in the head eight times and we see lots of blood and part of his brain when he dies. Very Graphic and extremely brutal and disturbing.
  • In one scene a police officer is killed by being repeatedly hit over the head by a hammer. The actual impact happens completely onscreen, all that's shown is a lot of blood landing on the walls.
  • Season 3 A woman's head is smashed into a car windshield. Some blood.
  • This scene is at the end of season 3 and is one of the most violent scene in the series. Dean is brutally mauled to death by invisible creatures called Hellhounds. Blood pours out of his body and onto the floor. This scene is very bloody
  • Season 5 A man wakes up with his arm and his sheets covered in blood, not graphic but very bloody. Bobby, possessed by a demon, beats up Dean, no blood but very disturbing and intense. The possessed Bobby tries to stab him to death, very intense.
  • It's important to note that while this show is violent, It will show blood landing on nearby people or objects but we do normally get to see what's happening to the vitcim and the monsters. There are some exceptions to such as Deans death scene by hellhounds in season 3
  • Season 5 episode 14 there's a random couple making out before violently ripping into each other's flesh and biting chunks out of each other. Contains lots of blood smears, spurts, along with crunching and moaning
  • Sam Winchester drinks blood from his hand

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One main character becomes addicted to demon blood. This is a main story arc in S4 and still relevant in S5. One episode revolves heavily around him withdrawing from it. He hallucinates and has seizures.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The death of some characters are very sad and emotional.
  • Season 3 A group of people possessed by demons forces a man to drink Drano. Blood pours out of his mouth and he dies. Pretty disturbing.
  • The final episode may be extremely dark and emotional at times.
  • In the bloody valentine episode Sam drinks one of the demon's blood. Most of this is shown but we see blood on the demon's neck afterwards as well as Sam's face.
  • After dean dies at the end of season 3 which is very disturbing as he been clawed to death and torn with blood gushing out by hellhounds we see him in hell
