Sex & Nudity

  • Sometimes the violence in this show can be incredibly graphic and extremely gory. All on screen with over the top gore.
  • It can be really violent to the point that viewers might not want to watch it anymore and get really bloody lots of gore and more

  • Violence in the series is very frequent.
  • Supernatural beings are always killed off in some ritualistic way, sometimes involving beheading or dismemberment, most actual moments of impact (via knife, ax, bullet, etc.) happen off-screen, however blood spatter and gore are sometimes shown as a result.
  • Most episodes begin with a murder victim being killed in a bizarre fashion, which leads to investigation by the Winchesters. These scenes can sometimes be graphic.


  • Multiple Uses of " Son of a Bitch" Throughout the Series
  • Uses of F**k are implied. It is said but is either bleeped out or replaced with the word "frick"
  • Fairly common uses of "ass", "bitch", "damn", "hell", and "crap", as well as some miscellaneous other mild profanities. In later seasons "dick" is often used as an insult.
  • There are several religious inferences as many characters are angels and demons, some scenes take place in heaven, hell, and purgatory. Although "God" is the only religious exclamation said in vain.

  • Most episodes end with Sam and Dean drinking beers. Several scenes in bars featuring drunk people.
  • Some episodes have featured references to hard drug use, but nothing is actually depicted.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Rated TV-14 for graphic horror violence, gory images, disturbing content, some sexuality, and alcohol use.
  • Many frightening and intense scenes including; creatures, people being attacked, and several scenes are shot in hell.
