It doesn’t open in the U.S. until this coming Friday, but Universal Pictures
continued its international roll out for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
this past weekend, with the J.A. Bayona
-directed sequel pushing the Jurassic Park
franchise beyond the $4 billion mark worldwide.
The film opened internationally to $151.1 million last weekend, and added a further $173.6 million this frame, including a hefty $111.8 million launch in China. Globally, Fallen Kingdom has now pulled in $370 million, and is tracking a $150 million opening in North America this coming weekend.
The franchise, which originally launches back in 1993 with Steven Spielberg
’s Jurassic Park
, has now grossed $4.013 billion across its five instalments, with 2015’s Jurassic World
leading the series with $1.672 billion in total.
A third Jurassic World
movie has already been announced for June 11th 2021, with Jurassic World
helmer Colin Trevorrow
set to return to the director’s chair.
