A Pleasant Walk Spoiled
8 August 2012 | by See all my reviews

Golf, we discover in this early Semon short, is a game that is played by striking a croquet ball with a hockey stick and seeing how many times it can hit Larry Semon.

Semon was apparently fonder of the game than I am and made several shorts on the subject, including 1922's GOLF. In this early phase of his career, he was not the entire show and the time offered to Florence Curtis as a pickpocket is well spent. However, the rest of the cast are reduced to stereotypically costumed subjects of their gags.

Still, those gags are amusing enough that I find the entire piece funny. Although not among the best of the Semon shorts you should find it a pleasant few minutes of silent comedy.
