The Muppets perform six classic fairy tales: Three Little Pigs, King Midas' Golden Touch, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Rumpelstiltskin, The Emperor's New Clothes and The Elves and the Shoemaker. Hosted by Gonzo and Rizzo the Rat.
Gonzo is contacted by his alien family through his breakfast cereal. But when the men in black kidnap him, it's up to Kermit and the gang to rescue Gonzo and help him reunite with his long-lost family.
This second Muppet Show pilot was produced in association with the Children's Television Workshop and filmed in New York city. Director Dave Wilson would work with the Muppets again that same year during the first season of Saturday Night Live (1975), before Henson and Co would finally find a home for The Muppet Show (1976) in England thanks to Lord Lew Grade. This is obviously a pilot to the show, but also very different than the show. We've got Nigel the band conductor backstage before an Electric Mayhem concert. Sam the eagle is there with him, and they end up playing chess. Meanwhile the Electric Mayhem has a concert. The sub-plot stories are Swedish chef, talking Mount Rushmore, Statler and Waldorf at home, two wrestlers that end up tied up and the Muppet Show's At the Dance segment. Meanwhile, Nigel, Sam and Electric Mayhem's Floyd introduce the deadly sins. Very entertaining and great! You can find this show as a special feature on Muppet Show season one.
