Desilu's Police Story
3 September 2011 | by williwawSee all my reviews

Lucille Ball wanted Desilu to return to its glory as a comedy factory Desilu had smash hits under Ms. Ball's tenure but not the comedies she wanted but classic drama's such Mission Impossible and Mannix on CBS, Star Trek on NBC and the failed Greatest Show on Earth on ABC. Lucille Ball did claim great glory in the iconic stature of Mission Impossible and Star Trek. Lucille Ball developed and co owned with Desilu the film Yours Mine and Ours which was a smash hit for Desilu and United Artists.

Gene Roddenberry who produced Star Trek also produced this failed pilot of an elite corps of Policemen and the show "Police Story" starring a very fine actor Steve Ihnat- who died very young-, was rumored to be a mid season NBC replacement but Police Story never got a time slot.

Desilu folded into Paramount netting Ms. Ball millions and all the TV shows created by Desilu including this one are now the property of Paramount.
