Columbia Pictures Acquires Geoff Rodkey Novel ‘We’re Not From Here’ From Will Gluck’s Olive Bridge, Mike Mitchell To Direct
Exclusive: Will Gluck’s Olive Bridge Entertainment has sold the rights to Geoff Rodkey’s middle-grade novel We’re Not From Here to Columbia Pictures, Deadline can report.

The feature adaptation will be a family-focused hybrid live-action and animation film which Rodkey will adapt with Mike Mitchell directing and Gluck and Jodi Hildebrand of Olive Bridge Entertainment producing.

The Crown Books published comedic book follows a family of humans who immigrate to an alien planet.

Rodkey is the Emmy-nominated screenwriter of the films Daddy Day Care, Rv, The Shaggy Dog and Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas! He’s also the author of nine novels for middle-grade readers, including the New York Times bestselling Tapper Twins comedy series and the adventure-comedy trilogy The Chronicles of Egg. The first book in the series, Deadweather and Sunrise, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the U.

Not long into the first act of Men in Black: International, a thought popped into my mind that I just couldn’t shake. It’s not a particularly controversial musing, but it’s certainly something I never expected to believe, so bear with me: I miss the foregone days of a Barry Sonnenfeld comedy.

One Year Later, I Still Miss Robin Williams

It was August 11, 2014. The theater was full with an advance screening of The Giver starring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. The red carpet event was live-streamed prior to the showing as stars from the film flooded in and entered the New York City party while we, in Knoxville, Tenn., gazed at the screen.

I checked my phone for the time and came across a message on the screen.

“Actor Robin Williams found dead at his home. He was 63.”

A friend put it best when he said that hearing the news of Williams’s passing surprised him with grief.

It did the same for me.

Now, to this point, Robin Williams was just another face (or voice) on the screen to me. An actor who had given life to Genie in Aladdin, the main character of Flubber, and was Mrs. Doubtfire. Nothing of note, but fun most of the time.

Any time a person who has had so much impact on so many people’s lives passes away, it is understandably hard to comprehend. Robin Williams was one of these people. Robin Williams Left Behind Four Unreleased Movies

The untimely death of Robin Williams has certainly been felt, and will continue to reverberate in our minds and hearts, and on our screens, for years to come. Williams was at work on a number of projects before he died, four of which are films that are already in the can and will be seen this year and next.

The first project is Merry Friggin’ Christmas, an indie comedy with a November 7th release date, which also stars Joel McHale and Wendy McLendon-Covey. Williams plays McHale’s father, who joins his son on a road trip to retrieve some forgotten gifts. This sounds a little bit too close to some of Williams’s later film roles (like Rv), which left a little something to be desired, but just the presence of the comedian on screen will be enough to get me to give it a chance.

I had to stop and think about it. When was the first time I encountered Robin Williams? I'm pretty sure it was reruns of "Mork & Mindy" at a young age, if not the boisterous Oscar-nominated performance he gave in Barry Levinson's "Good Morning, Vietnam." By then he had already dazzled countless audiences in "The World According to Garp." Whatever it was, like so many, it was the start of, as his widow noted in a release, "countless moments of joy and laughter" he would deliver for the next three decades of my life. And now, he's gone. It soon became erratic late night appearances with David Letterman and the like, as the movies flowed in. Terry Gilliam's "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen," for instance, or another, much more timid Oscar-nominated performance in Peter Weir's "Dead Poets Society." 2014 MTV Movie Awards: The Show, The Winners

It was another spectacular night as the 2014 MTV Movie Awards went down in Los Angeles on Sunday (April 13).

Conan O’Brien took over the hosting duties and did a splendid job, impressing the crowd of teens and celebs with his hilarious antics.

Meanwhile, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" raked in the golden popcorn trophies taking home Movie of the Year along with Best Male and Female performances with wins going to Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence, respectively.

As for the Best Kiss prize, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts and Will Poulter scored the win for their steamy scene in "We're the Millers."

2014 MTV Movie Awards Announces Nominees

Sure, the Oscars, Globes and pretty much every other awards show is over and done with, but MTV still has plenty of golden popcorn to pass around.

Earlier today (March 6) the cable network unveiled the nominees for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, slated to kick off on April 13th at 9:00 pm and hosted by Conan O’Brien.

While many of the categories mirror those of the Academy Awards, the Movie of the Year hopefuls include “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in addition to the usual “12 Years a Slave,” “American Hustle,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

And of course, everyone will be watching to see who wins the Best Kiss trophy- nominees include Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson, James Franco, Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens, Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller and Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter.

2014 MTV Movie Awards Led by 'American Hustle' and 'Wolf of Wall Street'

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards were announced today and once again it's a grab bag of nominees, but this year is even more curious than most as the one film thought to be the most populist film of the lot, Gravity, comes away with only one nomination and that being for Sandra Bullock for Best Actress. Then you have the Movie of the Year category, which pits The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire against American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street and 12 Years a Slave. I don't know how the nominees are decided at the MTV Movie Awards, but I know the winners are supposedly determined by MTV viewers, which means, looking at this list, the Hunger Games crowd is likely to make a huge mark.... or, it could be the Leonardo DiCaprio crowd that became ever-so-vocal after he, predictably, lost Best Actor at the Oscars.
