Storyline

Edna Wilder is a 26 year old Suffolk schoolteacher who almost lost her mind when her lover, Monroe Roosevelt, abandoned her 11 years earlier, after learning of her pregnancy. She stopped speaking altogether for three years and even now, has never told her son of his father. That all changes when her closest friends Maggie and Esper Brinkley inform Edna that Monroe is on his way back home. Knowing his effect on her and fearing the worst, Edna pays a visit to the heart of the Great Dismal Swamp to find Mama Mojo, the legend of countless Tidewater stories. Does Mama Mojo hold the key to Edna and Monroe's destiny or does Edna? Written by Nancy Cheryll Davis & Robert Alford

A genuine experience
8 October 2005 | by msmchySee all my reviews

Thank you very much for portraying such an historical area so accurately, the acting was phenomenal and the script was beautifully written. I'd watch it again and again. I myself have visited the place where this movie was filmed and the production and direction transformed a modern day society to the time where this period piece was meant to be. Sheri Bailey the writer has outdone herself, and with the addition and completion of the entire Summer dreams saga, the story unfolds into a beautiful portrait of life in the Hampton Roads told through the voices of those who lived it. A tragic love story of which love is lost, found, and lost once more. Surely a classic darkened with a curse and a heartbreak will transcend the test of movies and short films through the ages.
