‘Turner & Hooch’: A Dog Has His Day Again

‘Turner & Hooch’: A Dog Has His Day Again
In 1989, just months after he earned his first Oscar nomination for Big, and a few years before he went on a run of critical and commercial success that’s nearly unrivaled in the history of cinema, Tom Hanks starred in a series of middling movies that never would’ve suggested the megastar he’d become. One of these was Turner & Hooch, which starred Hanks as fastidious small-town cop Scott Turner, whose life is upended when he takes in a big, messy French mastiff named Hooch. It was a modest success,

All 6 ‘Terminator’ Movies, Ranked Worst to Best (Photos)

All 6 ‘Terminator’ Movies, Ranked Worst to Best (Photos)
James Cameron’s breakout film “The Terminator” may not have been a hit in theaters, but it was such a cult favorite on home video that it spawned one of the biggest and most lucrative movie franchises in history. With “Terminator: Dark Fate” in theaters, let’s look back at all six feature films in the saga, and see how they stack up against each other.

6. “Terminator Salvation” (2009)

The fourth “Terminator” movie has a great cast — Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin, Bryce Dallas Howard, Helena Bonham Carter — and a smart idea, to give all the time-travel a rest and actually set one of these post-apocalyptic thrillers after the apocalypse for a change. Unfortunately, director McG is more interested in chaotic action than in the story, the new revelations about the universe are groan-inducing, and Sam Worthington’s forgettable protagonist, a survivor with a secret, takes valuable screen time away from everyone and everything else.

Christian Bale's Gothic Horror Movie The Pale Blue Eye Goes Straight to Netflix

Christian Bale's Gothic Horror Movie The Pale Blue Eye Goes Straight to Netflix
Netflix has picked up the rights to the gothic horror-thriller The Pale Blue Eye. Deadline reports that the streamer spent around $55 million for the movie, which reunites lead star Christian Bale with director Scott Cooper. Bale previously worked with Cooper in the 2013 crime drama Out of the Furnace and again in the 2017 Western Hostiles. The two will both produce The Pale Blue Eye alongside Josh Lesher (Birdman) and Cross Creek's Tyler Thompson.

Based on the Louis Bayard novel of the same name, The Pale Blue Eye is written by Cooper. Its plot revolves around a series of murders taking place in 1830 at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Christian Bale will play a veteran detective who investigates the murders, helped by a detail-oriented young cadet who will later become Edgar Allan Poe. It hasn't yet been revealed who will be playing the world famous author.

Terminator anime series in development for Netflix
There have been three attempts at relaunching the Terminator franchise, with Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate all intended to kick off a brand-new trilogy, but each of those films unfortunately failed to get the ball rolling. It might seem to some that it would be a good idea to let the franchise rest a spell, but it you can't keep…

Terminator 7 Would Have Introduced an Alternate Timeline

Terminator 7 Would Have Introduced an Alternate Timeline
While the box office performance of 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate resulted in the franchise getting lowered into a proverbial vat of lava as it flashed a thumb-up, it seems that plans exist for a seventh entry, which would have followed up on the wantonly retconned storyline—indirectly, anyway.

Mackenzie Davis, who starred in Dark Fate as cybernetically-enhanced human Grace, divulged a rather intriguing tidbit on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about the inevitably fruitless plans for a follow-up film. The character, hailing from a timeline altered by Terminator 2’s destruction of Skynet, was sent from the future to protect the fated Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) from a new humanity-exterminating A.I. called Legion, but was (Spoiler Alert) killed at the end of the film. Yet, Davis reveals that Grace would have returned in the next film by way of yet another alternate timeline.

While not getting too specific about the hypothetical Terminator 7 plans,

Netflix Lost A Lot Of Great Movies Today

Netflix Lost A Lot Of Great Movies Today
With September now over, spooky season is nearly upon us. Halloween can bring out the best in media, with a spotlight on the horror genre in particular, and from classics to originals, Netflix has a ton of scary titles to choose from this month. However, they’re also losing a bunch of great selections starting today.

The company has been at the center of a great deal of controversy lately after canceling numerous shows that had already been renewed, as well as fan favorites that were just getting started. They also got into some trouble when marketing their new film Cuties, which was shamed for emphasizing the sexualization of young children. All this on top of the fact that they recently lost some of their staples like Friends and That ’70s Show to other services, and one would think that the streaming giant has a big problem on their hands.

The Babysitter: Killer Queen Review

The Babysitter: Killer Queen Review
Just when you thought it was safe to check out Netflix tonight, the streamer has dumped a sequel to its 2017 hit The Babysitter into its endless river of algorithm-calibrated goo. But while some critics apparently found the first movie charming–and appreciated the presence of rising horror-comedy star Samara Weaving (Ready or Not)–The Babysitter: Killer Queen fails on every level to make even a perfunctory case for a follow-up.

For one thing, Weaving is not the lead baddie this time around, even if most of the rest of the cast from the original encore here. Now you may ask how all the other slain cultist villains return. But a script that combines “no one’s ever really dead in horror” contrivances with some motivation-destroying retconning makes it easy. Too easy. But nothing about the story makes sense on any level, and it’s a wonder that it took returning

Terminator Salvation Director Teases A New Cut Of The Movie

Terminator Salvation Director Teases A New Cut Of The Movie
Director’s Cuts are hardly a new thing, with Ridley Scott releasing multiple versions of Blade Runner over the decades as well as tinkering with several of his other previous movies. In some cases, it feels like nothing more than a transparent attempt to wring out some extra cash from home video sales, while other times it finally gives a filmmaker complete creative control without studio executives looking over their shoulder.

The two and a half year campaign to will the Snyder Cut of Justice League into existence may end up sparking a trend, as David Ayer’s Suicide Squad was heavily rumored for similar treatment, although any talk seems to have severely quietened down in recent months. The latest director to throw their hat into the ring, though, is McG, who teased in a recent interview that he has his own cut of Terminator Salvation that he’d love for fans to see.

A Darker Terminator: Salvation Director's Cut Exists, Is It Time for #ReleaseTheMcGCut?

A Darker Terminator: Salvation Director's Cut Exists, Is It Time for #ReleaseTheMcGCut?
Back in 2009, director McG made Terminator Salvation, a film that had the courage to move the franchise away from a rehash of an attempt on the life of a young John Connor by a Terminator sent back in time. Instead, the movie told a tale where Skynet has finally taken over the world, and humanity is in a war for survival. In an interview, McG revealed that there exists a director's cut of the film that the general audience has not yet seen.

"It's interesting because I feel like we did so much right with Terminator but, ultimately, got just enough wrong that we got beat up a little bit by the fanbase and it really, really broke my heart. And now, strangely, I think the film has started to age better. And there is a different cut: I have my own cut of that film and there's people online

One Of Christian Bale’s Most Underrated Films Hits Hulu Next Month

One Of Christian Bale’s Most Underrated Films Hits Hulu Next Month
It seems hard to believe, but Christian Bale has been a regular fixture on our screens for over 30 years, having gotten his big break playing the lead role in Steven Spielberg’s 1987 war drama Empire of the Sun, and in the decades since he’s gone on to firmly establish himself as one of the greatest actors of his generation, if not one of the best ever.

The famously committed 46 year-old is notoriously picky about the projects he signs on to, which makes his impending Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as the villain of Thor: Love and Thunder so exciting. Not only does it mark his first venture into comic book territory since headlining the Dark Knight Trilogy, but it’ll also be the first time he’s appeared in any non-Batman blockbuster since 2009’s poorly-received Terminator Salvation.

While he’s known for his dedication to every role he plays
