The adventures in time and space of the Doctor, a Time Lord who changes appearance and personality by regenerating when near death, and is joined by companions in battles against aliens and other megalomaniacs.
The Doctor, a Time Lord/Lady from the race whose home planet is Gallifrey, travels through time and space in their ship the T.A.R.D.I.S. (an acronym for Time and Relative Dimension In Space) with numerous companions. From time to time The Doctor regenerates into a new form (which is how the series has been running since the departure of the original actor, William Hartnell, in 1966).Written by
Prior to becoming a regular writer and showrunner, Steven Moffat wrote the 1999 spoof "The Curse of Fatal Death" for Comic Relief with Rowan Atkinson as the 9th Doctor, Richard E. During the first season, Christopher Eccleston is credited as "Doctor Who", as set in the Classic Series. Beginning with the second season - reportedly at the behest of the show's new star, David Tennant - the credit has been changed to read "The Doctor". See more »
Season 8 in Australia is PG on television, and M on DVD. Science fiction themes and violence being the reason. See more »
Season 11 isn't Doctor Who and my rating reflects that. The writing for this latest season is weak. The stories are weak. It's so disappointing. My skepticism about a female
Doctor was laid to rest at the feet of a poor effort. Perhaps a great female Doctor can be had (Missy was tremendous), but not with the current stories. What chance Whittaker had to make the first female Doctor stand out is buried.
Such a shame.
