Very good Documantairy about Chinese Propaganda Movies
27 November 2006 | by erik_winklerSee all my reviews

A very good Documantairy! It really gives the viewer a key what triggered the Chinese in the love of Mao, Communisme and her Propaganda. It deals with a mind in a time that people were doctrines by beautiful images and heroism. And how it is looked upon in modern China now. The only thing i find a bit too much is the modern dancing at the end.. It begins with scenes from original footage of Chinese propaganda movies. It shows the 'wonderfull'world of communism under leadership of president Mao. The original movies a full of saturist colors, heroes, strong man and especially strong women. On the other hand the docu gives us a view of modern china and how the movies are looked upon now by modern Chinese. It also shows how for china it is now a sign of the past and that people look at it as us westerners look at old john Wayne movies. With sentiment, but also with a blink of the eye, because we know different now. A good movie to inform us, a little bit, about china's culture and to understand the Chinese way of thinking.
