I saw this film as part of a showcase of short films in Los Angeles. Though it did not get the cheers and jeers some of the other films did as they were screened, after the showcase it was the one film everyone was talking about. Here's my theory why: Short films lack subtlety. Great shorts often thrive because of over-the-top characters and outrageous sensibilities. In stark contrast, "Redemption" takes it's time. The pacing and tone reminded me of an old Twilight Zone episode. Deliberately slow and continually intriguing, "Redemption" gracefully builds to a dramatically satisfying conclusion by way of a clever supernatural twist. Check this one out if you can.
