Vanessa Williams Returning to Miss America as Head Judge

After 32 years, Vanessa Williams will return to the Miss America stage and will serve as head judge for this year’s competition.

In 1984, Williams famously became the first African American to be crowned Miss America — but was forced to resign from her duties after nude photos taken of her before she received her title surfaced and were sold to Penthouse magazine without her consent.

Oh how the years go by… back to Convention Hall after 32 years to judge the #MissAmerica pageant this Sunday night at 9|8c on ABC.

Former Miss America Vanessa Williams has been named the head judge of the 2016 Miss America Pageant, organizers announced Tuesday. Williams was crowned Miss America in 1984, becoming the first African-American woman to win the pageant, but not without controversy. The model, who has found success in virtually all areas of the entertainment industry, was forced to resign 10 months after winning the crown when nude photos from her past appeared in Penthouse magazine. Brooke Burke-Charvet Returns as Miss America Co-Host

After a two-year absence, Brooke Burke-Charvet is returning to Miss America as the co-host of the 2016 competition.

She joins previously announced co-host, “The Bachelor’s” Chris Harrison, who has signed on for a seventh season emceeing the famous event. Previously announced judges are Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Kevin O’Leary, Amy Purdy and Zendaya. Nick Jonas who will act as the official music curator of the evening.

Chris Harrison is temporarily trading rose ceremonies for tiaras, signing on for a seventh season as host of the Miss America Pageant.

While Harrison’s co-host has yet to be announced (Lara Spencer had the gig the past two years), he will be joined at the event by judges Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Kevin O’Leary, Amy Purdy and Zendaya. Exec producers are Anthony Eaton, Sam Haskell and Dick Clark ProductionsAllen Shapiro, Mike Mahan and Mark Bracco. Tall Pony Productions produces.
