Storyline

It's a typical day in Bushville. The Chief Bushman is sittin' pretty in his favorite saloon when Medianto, his trusted ally and messenger to the People, arrives on the scene. This time, however, he brings different tidings: His People KNOW he's a fraud. The People know everything! "What everything are you referending to?" The ever-eloquent Chief Bushman asks. This launches a lineup of lies and lawbreakin' that puts the most desperate of desperados and baddest of badmen to shame. Luckily for the Chief Bushman, he doesn't have to face the barrage alone. With his right hand man, the heavy gunning Rummage, the Chief Bushman is ready to do battle with the Truth and bury it once and for all! Written by Eric J. Stein

Very clever satirical comedy
27 January 2005 | by bkenberSee all my reviews

Bushmen is a very funny silent black & white comedy that uses the old west as a tool to satirize our (depressingly) reelected President and his half-baked policies. Very clever in direction and conception with great performances all around. Eric Stein is particularly impressive as the heroic cowboy of the bunch who looks like he just stepped out of a black and white western from the 1930s. It was a gutsy movie to film it in black and white and to make it silent. I have not seen anyone try to do that recently, so you have to give the filmmakers ingenuity for trying something different. For those seeking a little laughter after a disaster of a presidential election, you should definitely check this out.
