After the Humshakals debacle and the average performance of Happy Ending, Saif Ali Khan has decided to become a little more experimental with genres. Though he has often played the suave Casanova in films, his other roles in films like Ek Hasina Thi, Being Cyrus and Omkara were highly appreciated. Hence, Saif Ali Khan has decided to opt for a different strategy while choosing films and has signed a three film deal with Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures is a step towards it. Earlier we had reported that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the lead in the adaptation of the Japanese thriller novel 'Devotion of Suspect X', directed by Sujoy Ghosh. While it is the first film in the deal, the subjects and scripts for the other two films are yet to be finalized. From what we hear, the actor has already started preparing for the role in...

After many months of anticipation, Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny is in cinemas, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles.
After the release of Cocktail in 2012, Homi Adajania moves away from Bollywood formulas and takes up again the quirkiness and unconventionality displayed in his debut film Being Cyrus (2006) and creates a group story which takes place along the roads of Goa.
Finding Fanny revolves around five rather dysfunctional characters that live in the quaint sleepy village of Pocolim, nestled deep in the interior of Goa, India. One night, the old postman Ferdie (Shah), receives a letter that is slipped under his door.
He realizes that it is the letter he had written 46 years ago to the love of his life, Stefanie Fernandes, asking for her hand in marriage. He discovers that the letter was never delivered. All these years Ferdie had...

We’re close to the end of the Ipl (something to do with cricket, I hear…) in India and finally the big releases are around the corner with the first one being Rowdy Rathore on June the 1st in UK theaters. From then onwards we’ll be getting a steady flow of movies until the end of the year. Unfortunately a few of the recent movies didn’t find distribution in the UK or got delayed for example Dangerous Ishhq and Ishaqzaade, both movies we were looking forward to even if they got negative or so so reviews by critics.
So this week’s big trailer is Cocktail from Illuminati Films starring Saif Ali Khan (who is also the producer), Deepika Padukone (hoping to recreate the chemistry of Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan which was also her last clean solo hit), and newcomer Diana Penty (yes, that’s...

Agent Vinod – Saif Ali Khan’s dream project
Saif: “I would not say it’s a dream project. that smacks some kind of obsession. It was just a good role and in fact, when I and Dinesh came together for Illuminati Films, the idea I brought to the table was to make Agent Vinod. We opted for Love Aaj Kal before making Agent Vinod. It’s not a dream project but there is a large market for even a cheesy Bond rip-off and...

Saif Ali Khan was recently anointed the Tenth Nawab of Pataudi following the sad demise of his father, the legendary cricket player Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Pataudi is a town in Gurgaon district in the state of Haryana. The ceremony saw him being blessed by his mother, yesteryear actress Sharmila Tagore, and his two sisters, Saba and Soha. The event was also graced by the presence of the Chief Minister of the State, Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The practicality of the inheritance of the title can be gauged from the fact that it is more of a ceremonial right where the eldest son of the family takes over the right of the household upon the demise of the father. A pagdi (turban) is tied to the head of the son and the mother gives blessings to take the legacy of the household forward.

After winning over the audience with their onscreen chemistry in Love Aaj Kal, the Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone pair seems to have impressed the filmmakers as well. Which is why we will be seeing this jodi in not one, not two but three different movies this year! Saif and Deepika are already starring together in Prakash Jha's Arakshan and Abbas Mustan's Race 2. The third film in their kitty is Homi Adajania's Cocktail.
Saif Ali Khan had already worked with Adajania in his debut movie, Being Cyrus, which was well appreciated by viewers and critics alike. Having also agreed to star in his next movie as well, the concept and story finalization took some time but Saif has remained true to his word. Seems like Deepika Padukone is taking her relationship with Siddharth Mallya to the next level. Now the title of her films too seems to be finding an inspiration from the business avenues of her steady companion. Reason being that the title of her next film with Saif Ali Khan is Cocktail. Since Siddharth is the son of liquor baron Vijay Mallya, a title like Cocktail only adds to the high that Deepika is enjoying in her relationship. Confirms a senior crew member, "Yes, the film has been titled Cocktail. However, one can't quite say if it has anything to do with Deepika's personal equation with anyone. Something like this is just incidental. This is a modern day love story bearing urban sensibilities and hence a title like Cocktail pretty much suits the mood of the film. Other than that, anything else is plain speculation." Meanwhile, one looks forward to check...

I don’t know. I always loved acting and used to take part in school and college plays. Before joining films I was into theatres also. But don’t know why I worked at wafer (Uncle Chips) shop in Dadar (Mumbai) till the age of 32. Then at a really terrible holiday.
