‘Murphy Brown’ Premieres With Surprise Hillary Clinton Cameo
Hillary Clinton made a surprise cameo appearance on the premiere of the “Murphy Brown” revival Thursday night, making several jokes at her own expense.

At the beginning of the episode, Candice Bergen’s Murphy Brown interviews a new candidate for a “secretarial position.” Enter Hillary, who says she spells her name with just one “L,” and insists she just looks like the ex-Secretary of State.

“Hilary” references one of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign blurbs, saying “I’m qualified, and I’m ready on day one,” and quips that she has “some experience with emails.” The she adds that her experience includes four years as a secretary in “a very large organization.” And of course, “Hilary” also references one of Clinton’s books, saying that in a TV news production, “everyone works together. It takes a village.” Wokka wokka wokka.

‘Veronica Mars’ Revival Series in the Works at Hulu

‘Veronica Mars’ Revival Series in the Works at Hulu
Veronica Mars” could be making its long-awaited TV return.

Sources tell Variety that a revival of the series is currently in the works at Hulu with original series star Kristen Bell poised to return as the titular detective and original series creator Rob Thomas serving as writer. Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, would be the studio. Sources caution, however, that the deal for the series is not yet final. It is also unknown if any other original series stars besides Bell would return or what the plot of the series would be.

Among the matters complicating the deal is that Bell currently stars in the hit NBC comedy “The Good Place.” Should the “Veronica Mars” project move forward, it would need to shoot around her schedule for the latter show, meaning it would likely be a limited series consisting of eight to ten episodes.

Both Hulu and Warner Bros.

Review: "Alice, Sweet Alice" (Aka "Communion") (1976) Starring Brooke Shields; Blu-ray Special Edition

  • CinemaRetro
By Todd Garbarini

Alfred Sole is a production designer who has carved out a nice career for himself in Hollywood, most notably on the television shows Veronica Mars (2004-7), Castle (2009-16), and the reboot of MacGyver (2017-18). Long before he chose that line of work however, he dabbled in the world of film directing. His first film, the 1972 hardcore sex “comedy” Deep Sleep, must be seen to be believed because despite a few flourishes of cinematic style and several humorous sequences involving dialogue, it’s just a hardcore sex romp featuring folks no one in their right mind would want to see naked let alone copulating. There is absolutely nothing in this film to suggest that he would next direct one of the greatest and most thematically disturbing thrillers of our time, 1976’s Communion, not to be confused with the Christopher Walken/alien-probe-up-the-old-dirt-road 1989 outing based on Whitley Strieber’s 1987 “non-fiction” book of the same name.
