There is a curious undercurrent in TV history that is so prevalent that it almost seems like a curse: that is the popular TV series that absolutely crashes and burns on the landing, offering a terrible ending that leaves a sour note in the memory of the devoted fans who have been following the show since the beginning. Otherwise beloved series that drew viewers in for years, like Seinfeld, Lost, and Game of Thrones, are some of the most classic examples of shows that stumbled across the finish line. However, the finale of How I Met Your Mother easily holds one of the top slots of all time in the category of disappointing finales to beloved and popular TV series. The twist ending and the resolution to the main character arcs left many fans in disbelief as to how everything came to a close in the story. Fortunately enough, though,...

Batman's true weakness lies in his emotional vulnerability, which stems from the trauma of his parents' deaths. Despite his physical prowess, Batman can be emotionally manipulated by his enemies, exploiting his aversion to death. Alfred demonstrates that even Batman, with all his strengths, can be brought down by triggering his deep emotional scars.
Batman has faced plenty of horrifying villains over the years who have tried to crush his spirit and defeat him in combat. Despite going up against the likes of Ra's al Ghul, the Joker, and Bane, none of these villains has beaten Batman. But after one particular conversation, Alfred decided to show exactly how to bring the terrifying Batman down.
In order to become Batman, Bruce Wayne traveled around the world and learned from the most dangerous people on the planet. Naturally, when Batman returned to Gotham, he felt able to decimate the criminal element with few problems.

Star Trek: The Next Generation and Lost share a connection through actors appearing in both iconic shows. Both series feature characters navigating strange occurrences and mysterious phenomena in their respective universes. From renowned guest stars to memorable roles, these actors brought their talent to both Tng and Lost.
Star Trek: The Next Generation and Lost may not seem to have much in common beyond being science fiction television shows, but several actors appeared in both shows. Following the adventures of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the USS Enterprise-d, Tng picked up about a century after the events of Star Trek: The Original Series. Although Tng got off to a bit of a rocky start in its first two seasons, it would go on to produce some of the best science fiction television of all time. Over the course of seven seasons, the Enterprise-d explored the galaxy, encountering numerous strange aliens and unexplainable anomalies.

Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell (The Continental: From the World of John Wick) are scrubbing in as the leads in Pulse, which Netflix announced in February as its first-ever procedural medical drama series.
From creator, showrunner, and executive producer Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer) and showrunner and executive producer Carlton Cuse, Pulse will follow the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 trauma center as they navigate medical emergencies and their equally complex personal lives.
The series will center on Fitzgerald’s character Danielle “Danny” Simms, a third-year resident in emergency medicine at Maguire Hospital in Miami when she’s unexpectedly promoted to chief resident amidst the fallout of her own explosive romantic relationship. While Danny’s deep empathy makes her an exceptional doctor in training, her brash and self-sabotaging nature complicates her upward trajectory.

The heart-wrenching ending of The Virgin Suicides explores themes of isolation, control, and understanding. The Lisbon sisters' tragic suicide is a result of entrapment and oppressive guardianship. The film challenges viewers to reflect on their roles as observers in the lives of others, highlighting the elusive nature of understanding.
Contains sensitive subject matter about suicide.
The Virgin Suicides ending is somewhat open-ended, leaving many to ask, "Why did the Lisbon sisters kill themselves?". Set in a quiet 1970s Michigan suburb, the film showcases the lives of the Lisbon sisters, led by Lux (Spider-Man's Kirsten Dunst), through the eyes of neighborhood boys, who remain enamored and haunted by their memories. This haunting narrative explores themes of youth, control, freedom, and the enigmatic essence of life and death, leaving a lasting impact. The film’s legacy lies in its ability to resonate deeply with themes of loss and the elusive nature of understanding another's inner world.

Not every successful TV show needs a spinoff – sometimes it's best to let a great show stand alone. Mad Men, The Wire, and Lost all resisted the urge for spinoffs, allowing their original stories to shine. The Americans and The Leftovers also chose to end without spinoffs, keeping their complete narratives intact.
Whenever a hit television show came to an end it was never long before a spinoff or follow-up was announced, but in some rare cases, there have been instances where great shows have been allowed to remain just that without any subsequent media. For every successful spinoff, like Frasier or Better Call Saul, there were always ten more disappointments, like Joey or After Mash, that viewers would rather just forget. That’s why it was always such a refreshing change of pace when series creators just let their show exist without the need to turn it into a sprawling extended universe.

Summary:
Regardless of his death at the hands of the Joker, Dick Grayson's Nightwing would have been a difficult fit for the Snyderverse. Nightwing can be a major asset in the upcoming Dcu, an A-list hero with connections to the Titans, Superman, and the Bat Family. Nightwing has surpassed Batman in DC Comics, resulting in a compelling dynamic that would be very exciting to see on-screen.
Dick Grayson's Nightwing would never have worked in the Synderverse, though he could become a major asset and a leading hero in the upcoming Dcu reboot. Beginning with the Creature Commandos animated series in 2024 with James Gunn's Superman being the first full-fledged Dcu feature in 2025, the brand-new Dcu is certainly imminent. To that end, it stands to reason that Nightwing will thrive far more than he ever could in the preceding Dceu which officially concluded with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The late iconic legend Matthew Perry has given the cinema and worldwide audiences some of the most cherishable moments, both onscreen as well as offscreen — not just through Friends, but his other big screen masterpieces as well. But despite such excellence, he wasn’t honored at the recently held BAFTAs following his devastating demise.

Yet, while the BAFTAs are gone, another major awards ceremony will soon be reaching the audiences: The Oscar Awards 2024. And this time, the Academy has a chance to not only pay tribute to Perry for all the outstanding projects he has presented the entertainment industry with but also make one of his unfulfilled wishes come true.

Long-running TV shows like Buffy, Lost, and Modern Family keep audiences engaged for hours on end with a mix of chaos, comedy, and adventure. The best binge-worthy series like Supernatural and Parks & Rec have strong plots and lovable characters that make viewers feel at home with every watch. Familiar favorites like The Office and Friends offer a comforting experience with memorable characters and timeless humor that stand the test of time.
There's nothing quite like a long and binge-worthy TV show. With so many episodes, it's great to return to the same characters and journey through the chaos, comedy, and adventure of years worth of content. Once upon a time, there was a magical series filled with classic fairy tales and Disney characters thrown into the real world via a dark curse cast by an Evil Queen; the show was called, Once Upon a Time. The brainchild of former Lost writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the show enchanted ABC viewers for seven seasons and 156 episodes. During a recent interview with Collider, former Once star, Colin O'Donoghue, got fans thinking about the possibility of a Once Upon a Time revival. While there's certainly an argument for the show's return, audiences don't have to wait for a theoretical revival to return to the realms of the show.

Opening TV theme songs have tragically become a lost art. On one level, it makes sense. As the line between television and film has grown increasingly blurry in the 21st century, opening titles have become more and more cinematic. The mix of simple earworms and dialogue-free visuals in the opening titles of shows like "Mad Men" are eloquent works of art in and of themselves. It just wouldn't have the same effect if, instead of David Carbonara's haunting suite accompanied by minimalistic animation of an ad man's world literally falling apart, you had someone singing about that ol' scoundrel Don Draper and how his dastardly, womanizing ways are coming back to bite him (as amazing as that sounds).
Of course, things were different when Sherwood Schwartz created "Gilligan's Island." The show required a tad more exposition than your run-of-the-mill sitcom at the time. Whereas series like "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie...

Hollywood A-lister Bradley Cooper hasn’t been as present on screen recently, leaving fans hungry for his next project. However, his latest endeavor did not exactly result in a huge return. He took the reins for “Maestro,” a film about the legendary Leonard Bernstein, not only directing but also stepping into the demanding lead role.
Bradley Cooper || Maestro (2023)
While ambitious, the film sparked mixed reactions due to its lack of candor and use of prosthetics. Despite the buzz, fans are eager for Cooper’s next move. A few have cooked up some dream roles for him, including a rumored high-budget project from his past that never quite materialized.

This article contains spoilers for the ending of Lost.
Hiroyuki Sanada, star and producer of FX’s excellent miniseries Shōgun, is one of the most successful Japanese actors working in Hollywood today. English-speaking audiences have to come to know and appreciate the Tokyo-born performer through his roles in films such as The Last Samurai, Speed Racer, The Wolverine, Army of the Dead, and John Wick: Chapter 4.
TV nerds (including yours truly) had an entirely different introduction to Hiroyuki Sanada, however. For us, Sanada’s Western pop culture career begins with the final season of classic ABC drama Lost.
Despite what you may have heard about its ending Lost is one of the best genre series to ever grace network television. It also, admittedly, wasn’t perfect. And its simultaneously ingenious and infuriating use of Sanada in its sixth and final season is a perfect microcosm of the show overall.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 2.
If there’s one thing that AMC’s The Walking Dead universe loves, it’s a time jump. While the first few seasons of the comic book adaptation were easy to follow, we were then hit with multiple skips through time, and fans were left scratching their heads as they fit together an increasingly confusing narrative.
Featuring the much-hyped return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as Rick Grimes and Michonne, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live brings the star-crossed lovers together after years apart. Unfortunately for those who were expecting a simplistic Romeo & Juliet with zombies, The Ones Who Live has already hit us with multiple time jumps. Sigh, it’s time to consult The Walking Dead timeline again.

Rapunzel was unveiled as part of the A Rift In Time Expansion, for Disney Dreamlight Valley, and now she needs help tracking down some song lyrics scattered throughout the area. When collected, the song lyrics will appear in your collection similarly to the Lost Diaries originally found in the valley or Gaston's Diaries found in the Glittering Dunes.
All of Rapuzel's Lyrics are scattered throughout the Wild Tangle area specifically. Though there are similar items that can be found in other areas, those will correspond to Gaston, not Rapunzel. There are 21 lyrics pages in total to be found on Eternity Isle and each one will appear as a sparkling piece of paper when approached initially.

Hit TV shows have a habit of ending controversially. Whether it was the sudden cut to black in the final episode of The Sopranos, the confusing flashbacks in Lost, or the jarring flash-forward in Gossip Girl, iconic television franchises have failed to stick the landing. But when discussing controversial endings, Game of Thrones stands out among the rest. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss took their time adapting one book per season during the earlier seasons of the franchise. So, it was a surprise when they announced Game of Thrones' ever-expanding narrative would be wrapped up in two shorter seasons consisting of 13 episodes total.

In the early 2000s, J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, and Carlton Cuse created a groundbreaking broadcast television show that trapped viewers in its ever-expanding mythology. Lost debuted in 2004, with a memorable pilot episode that caught the attention of the world, and quickly became a sci-fi sensation with a very passionate fandom. Lost posed an infinite number of questions that, given an early final three-season renewal, most fans were expecting to be answered. Nevertheless, when the sixth and final season was released, week after week, more questions were raised and not enough answers were delivered in the end. Reception of the series finale was and continues to be divisive, making it on some of the best and worst finale lists of the audience. In retrospect, Lost’s final season wasn’t about getting answers, at least not mainly. It was about wrapping up our beloved characters’ stories through the unique dual-timeline storytelling...

The "Not Penny's Boat" moment in the Lost season 3 finale changed the show forever, revealing the futility of the survivors' efforts for rescue. This pivotal scene led to a divide among the main characters, setting the stage for conflicts and consequences in the following seasons. The emotional sacrifice of Charlie's death had a profound impact on viewers and the characters, showing the importance of the "Not Penny's Boat" meaning.
Many believe "We Have To Go Back" was the show's pivotal twist but, in reality, it's the "Not Penny's Boat" moment that changed Lost forever, causing the death of Charlie and spinning the narrative on its head. When Lost first aired in 2004, it was a show with a relatively grounded premise about a group of survivors lost on an island after a plane crash. New Delhi, March 1 (Ians) Women-centric movies often end up highlighting stereotypes and essentialising people who belong to different gender communities.
But if, as protagonists in a narrative, women get to focus on or are oriented towards issues that confine them to pigeonholes, and also underline their experiences, perspectives and needs, it can truly be called a gynocentric film.
After wowing cinephiles with her directorial debut in ‘Dhobi Ghaat’, Kiran Rao tells a story in ‘Laapata Ladies’ that does not necessarily define feminism, or deal with it, but it sure delights both men and women with nuggets that describe a variety of facets of our lives, including policies, media, art, and organisations that prioritise the voices and concerns of women.
Set in 2001, somewhere in rural India in a fictional place named Nirmal Pradesh (though shot in Madhya Pradesh), ‘Laapata Ladies’ (Lost Ladies) is about Phool (Nitanshi Goel) and Jaya (Pratibha Ranta...

Netflix has a lot of content on its virtual shelves, but it’s missing something so huge that it’s almost shocking.
They have no original medical drama for their subscribers.
Pulse will change all that.
Netflix announced today that Carlton Cuse and Zoe Robyn will team up for the new show, which already has its first star attached.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3: Everything We Know
Justina Machado is the first person to join the cast as a series regular.
This isn’t Netflix’s first foray into the procedural space, although their procedurals tend to have season-long arcs.
The Lincoln Lawyer, The Diplomat, and The Night Agent all have touches of procedural dramas in them, even if they don’t focus on episodes of the week.
Whether Pulse falls more in line with what we know as procedural content or not remains to be seen.

Bandai Namco Filmworks executive producer Naohiro Ogata has spoken out about the upcoming Gundam live-action movie, comparing it to Netflix's One Piece live-action series in terms of approaching it and other Japanese franchises with international audience appeal in mind.
Mantan Web asked Ogata about the upcoming plans for Gundam's anniversary celebrations in January, with its first-ever anime series turning 45 this coming April. These plans include the Gundam live-action movie, which he opened up on, saying, "Because it’s a large-scale work, including the budget, the pre-production phase has been quite lengthy. However, once it starts, it’s expected to move at an incredible speed. The Hollywood version is crucial as we approach the 50th anniversary. The success of the Hollywood adaptation of One Piece is a testament to the significant opportunity for international expansion of Japanese content."

Netflix is getting into the medical procedural space, with the streamer announcing a pickup for the drama “Pulse.”
The series hails from creator Zoe Robyn, who will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Carlton Cuse. In addition, Justina Machado has been cast in a series regular role.
The official logline for the series states, “While the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center navigate medical emergencies, young ER doc Dani Simms is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.”
Machado will star as Natalie Cruz, described as “a brilliant and politically-savvy doctor, who oversees both administration and medicine in her role as the Chair of Surgery and Emergency Medicine.”
Both Robyn and Cuse also serve as executive producers on the series. Kate Dennis will serve as director and executive producer on the show’s first two episodes. Bradley Gardner, Emma Forman, and Michael Klick also executive produce.

Grey’s Anatomy has been among Netflix’s top draws for a decade. Now the streamer is venturing into the medical procedural genre that has been a broadcast staple with its first original, Pulse. The series comes from first-time creator Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer) who serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside veteran Carlton Cuse. Justina Machado (The Horror Of Dolores Roach) is the first series regular cast in the show, whose first two episodes will be directed and executive produced by Kate Dennis.

Grey’s Anatomy is traditionally one of Netflix’s most-watched acquired programs, so it’s only natural that the streaming giant enters the medical procedural space on its own.
Netflix has handed out a series order to Pulse, what it says is its first procedural medical drama series. The series, which is created by Zoe Robyn (The Equalizer), is set at Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center as they navigate medical emergencies and revolves around Dani Simms, a young ER doctor who is unexpectedly promoted to chief resident amid the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship. Justina Machado returns to Netflix after starring in its One Day at a Time update and stars as Natalie Cruz, a doctor who serves as chair of surgery and emergency medicine.
Robyn and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan, Netflix’s own Locke and Key) will serve as co-showrunners. Both will exec produce the series.

Apple TV+ has ordered a series adaptation of the William Gibson novel “Neuromancer,” Variety has learned.
The 10-episode series hails from co-creators Graham Roland and Jd Dillard. Roland will also serve as showrunner, while Dillard will direct the pilot. Skydance Television will co-produce with Anonymous Content.
Per the official logline, the series “will follow a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”

HBO's ambitious sci-fi series "Westworld" took the cable channel by storm when the first season became one of its most-watched shows. There was palpable excitement each week for a new episode, and it felt like the hype actually came close to capturing the eager anticipation audiences once felt between new episodes of "Lost," complete with a variety of compelling mysteries driving the series.
Sadly, "Westworld" came to an unfortunate end with the show's fourth season. HBO canceled the series due to the show's high cost and diminishing returns, with viewership taking an extreme dip as the series continued. That's genuinely disappointing, because co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy had just one more season left to complete the story they originally conceived, and as of now, fans will never find out how it was all supposed to end.

A scene from the Korean thriller Dr. Cheon And The Lost Talisman. Courtesy of Well Go USA Entertainment
The subtitled Korean export, Dr. Cheon And Lost Tallisman, is an action fantasy that’s long on special effects and short on character development. Dr. Cheon (Gang Dong-Won) is descended from a line of shamans, but uses his roots and secular education to provide fake exorcisms. For a fee, of course. His sidekick in the grift, Beom-choen (Huh Joon-ho), handles the tech simulations of supernatural activity to convince the suckers they’re actually getting the benefits of an occult remedy. Things change radically when a young woman, Yoo-gyeong, (Esom), hires them for their first real demonic possession – her kid sister. Some things happen that aren’t part of their act, opening new possibilities for their vocation.
Gradually we learn bits and pieces of their backstories, while the staged ritual they expected turns...

For too long, Hollywood films set against an Asian backdrop have succumbed to the stereotypical portrayal of the ‘White savior’ eclipsing the significance and value of an Asian character. Matt Damon’s 2016 film The Great Wall was a major culprit in propagating this viewpoint, with the Oscar winner himself regretting being part of such a narrative.

This is the kind of prejudiced portrayal that FX’s Shōgun wanted to avoid. Ishana Shyamalan is stepping up, taking the director’s chair from her dad, M. Night Shyamalan, for a new horror mystery flick called ‘The Watchers’. She’s not new to this game, having worked on ‘The Servant’ series and been an assistant director on movies like ‘Old’ and ‘Knock at the Cabin’. Now at 22, she’s ready to scare us with her own movie.
‘The Watchers’ is grabbing attention already, with New Line Cinema backing it and big names like Dakota Fanning starring. It’s based on a book by A.M. Shine, where a 28-year-old named Mina gets stuck in a creepy forest in Ireland with three others, and they’re all being watched by something eerie. Sounds like a mix of ‘Cabin In The Woods’ and ‘Lost’, right? You can check out the trailer below to get a taste of what’s coming.

DarkGame, the latest thriller about dark doings on the Dark Web, opens with the masked figure known as The Presenter overseeing the murder of a bound woman in a manner chosen by the highest bidder. By the way, he chooses a chainsaw as the instrument of her demise. That’s followed by Detectives Ben Jacobs and Cathy Burnette rescuing two missing children from traffickers.
Ben has barely gotten home to his pregnant wife however when they’re called back into the station. The woman we saw killed in the opening scene had vanished without a trace a couple of weeks earlier. The footage is the only clue they have as to who is responsible, but the people behind it know how to cover their tracks.

Great TV shows can have divisive seasons - like Twin Peaks season 2 - with filler but also amazing moments. Lost season 6's controversial ending is worth revisiting for its character focus and themes. True Detective season 2 was critiqued, but had standout performances and should be re-evaluated.
Many great TV shows have had divisive seasons, and while some are genuinely irredeemable, others may be worth a second glance. Maintaining consistent excellence in television is incredibly difficult, as many shows tend to suffer from going on too long, and many others take their time to find their footing. For example, later seasons of The Walking Dead began to feel redundant, leading to a lackluster finale. On the other hand, The Simpsons struggled in its premiere season before becoming one of the most iconic shows of its era.
