Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and T.I. Now Have Their Own Netflix Show Because, Sure
Music reality TV with a hip-hop angle doesn’t have a long history, and there are basically only two moments in the genre that really matter: That one time Diddy made the contestants on Making The Band walk to get him cheesecake, and the other time he made an entirely new group of grown men get into a sing-off for his amusement. From there, the drop off is steep, considering the closest competition came from The White Rapper Show and The Road to Stardom With Missy Elliott. Netflix, though, is

ShortList 2018: Why ‘Night Shift’ Director Spent a Lot of Time in La Bathrooms (Video)
Marshall Tyler became an “expert” on Los Angeles bathrooms when searching for the perfect place to set his story about a dream deferred.

“I must have gone to at least 15 or 20 around L.A.,” said Tyler, whose short “Night Shift” is a finalist in TheWrap’s 2018 ShortList Film Festival. “I’d go to the bathroom at an event or restaurant and all I could think about was if the space could work for the film.”

In “Night Shift,” the space serves as another character interacting with Oliver “Olly” Jefferies (played by Tunde Adebimpe of “Rachel Getting Married”), an aspiring actor stuck working as a nightclub bathroom attendant.

RZA on His New Film, ‘Black Panther’ and Inclusivity: ‘We Would Love to Have an Easier Path’
RZA is on the cusp of two professional milestones. This November, his legendary hip-hop group, the Wu-Tang Clan, will ring in its 25th anniversary with a series of Down Under concerts. And early next year, he will bring audiences his third film as a director, “Cut Throat City.”

Born Robert Fitzgerald Diggs, the artist began releasing features six years ago. Rather than a career pivot, moviemaking represented coming full circle in the entertainment industry: the very first Wu-Tang album (“Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers”) took its name from the 1978 film “The 36th Chamber of Shaolin.” In it, a fugitive college student travels to a Shaolin temple to master kung-fu, plotting revenge on his tyrannical government. During “RZA: Movies, Music, and Martial Arts” — his recent Hall H talk at San Diego Comic-Con — RZA recalled why Liu Chia-liang’s epic resonated for him and his bandmates.

Hail Mary! Six of The Best Taraji P. Henson Films

Taraji P. Henson’s star is in the ascendant – ‘P’ for Penda, for the curious among you. An increasingly familiar face in hit TV shows like Boston Legal, Person of Interest and Eli Stone, Henson has quietly been chiseling away at a Hollywood career for over a decade. It has been an unshowy rise: comfortable in ensemble pieces, she often selflessly lets other more gregarious actors take the limelight away from her.

Not that she hasn’t gone unnoticed by those in the critical know. She’s a multi-award-winner and as executive producer and star of Proud Mary, she is finally an above-the-title name. The action thriller from director Babk Najafi has Henson leading a cast which includes Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Danny Glover, Billy Brown , Xander Berkeley, and Margaret Avery. Henson brings her trademark charisma and presence to the screen as a hardworking hitwoman whose life derails when a

Anthony Anderson Under Criminal Investigation, Disputes Woman’s Claims of Assault

Anthony Anderson Under Criminal Investigation, Disputes Woman’s Claims of Assault
“Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson is currently under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to The Blast, Anderson allegedly assaulted a woman last year after an event she catered for the actor.

“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether it is true or false,” Anderson’s rep said in a statement to Variety. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”

The Blast cited sources familiar with the situation, who said the woman met with Anderson a second time after the event to discuss future business opportunities with the actor when the assault occurred. She later filed a police report with the Hollywood Division of the Lapd.

The Lapd confirmed to Variety that a criminal investigation is underway, but had no additional information at this time and could not reveal the nature of the inquiry.

Oscars flashback: Gold Derby celebrates 84 years of Best Original Song at the Academy Awards

At the seventh Oscar ceremony in 1934, the academy introduced three new categories: Best Film Editing, Best Original Score and Best Original Song. The latter race had a mere three nominees that first year, with “The Continental,” performed by the incomparable Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in “The Gay Divorcee,” taking home the inaugural prize. Over the years to follow, the category would balloon in size, reaching a chaotic all-time high of 14 nominees at the 1945 Oscars, before contracting down to the five nominees seen in the vast majority of years since.

The category has produced a remarkable variety of Academy Awards winners, from the timeless likes of “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz” (1939) and “Moon River” from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (1961) to bold, contemporary fare like “Lose Yourself” from “8 Mile” (2002) and “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” from “Hustle & Flow” (2005). There are the beloved champions from animated features too,

Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson and More Join Eddie Murphy's Netflix Film Dolemite Is My Name!

Eddie Murphy's upcoming Netflix film, Dolemite Is My Name!, just added a great ensemble cast! Murphy will be joined by Wesley Snipes, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.

The film is a biopic that will tell the story of the life of Rudy Ray Moore, the star of the blaxploitation Dolemite films.

Moore worked in a Hollywood record store in 1970 when he began hearing obscene stories of a pimp and hustler named Dolemite. He started a club act where he became Dolemite. He then began generating records that mixed humor and a ghetto fantasy character, burnishing the legend. While too racy to be put on display in record stores, the records became a big inner city underground hit. The proceeds allowed Moore to finance the 1975 film Dolemite, which he starred in as a kung fu-capable pimp ghetto hero who stuck it to The Man. Moore followed with three sequels.
