A film about the state of the world at the turn of the millennium. Three friends once attempted to escape totalitarian Czechoslovakian Socialist Republic. But the attempt to emigrate ended in fiasco. For one it meant prison. For the other two it meant lifelong frustration. The three meet again in scenic modern Prague... The film is a reconstruction of the two biggest robberies in Czech history. During the first robbery the thieves managed to steal 28 million crowns from a Prague post office. In the course of second robbery an armored car transporting money was liberated of 150 million crowns. How are they enjoying their money today? But even more importantly, how to put it into circulation without anyone catching on to them? Our three find out that it is much more difficult than they thought. Written by Czech film center

This movie tells story about three good friends which want to get rich.
26 March 2009 | by omegas-1See all my reviews

This movie is inspired by greatest Czech robberies, written as if it was one offender.

Story begins in ages of communism, when three friends decide to emigrate from Czechoslovakia. Under pretense of fictitious "capitalistic coup" in Havana, dressed in police uniforms they wake up Cuban laborers in quarters one night and convince them to fly home to "defend the regime", board them into old abandoned aircraft and flee with their money. When two of them try to emigrate to Austria, one is caught on the border and arrested for a long time. After years, in present, they meet again. They conceive a plan to rob a post office safe deposit. The robbery is successful, but they cannot use a lot of money at the time to avoid police to catch them. But bad coincidence does them out of stolen money before they enjoy it, so they decide to rob again. After they assault a money transport, they let launder their catch and flee to tropical island. But one of them is already under the police investigation. After his return to Czech republic back to his pregnant girlfriend, he is arrested and judged. But there is another problem... The only credit card with their hot money is in girlfriend's hands...
