Storyline

A tragicomic mosaic of stories focusing on three siblings: 16-year-old Anna (Karolina Kaiserová), 26-year-old Jana (Tatiana Vilhelmová), and their half brother Vladimír (Jan Budar), age 35. Each of them is looking for the right person to come into their lives, but this merely leads to fumbling through life in a muddle while repeating the same mistakes. Anna is very far from her ideal of flashy beauty, and she struggles to be perfect as self doubts gnaw at her. In her naiveté, she gets caught by the same snares that trapped her sister. The elder girl is tearing through life in the fast lane - towards her first divorce. None of them realizes just how similar their problems are to those of their mother and brother, a brother they as yet know nothing about. Written by Czech film center

Kaviar is slang.
4 August 2006 | by ClartoGlogenwapSee all my reviews

In this country, many people recognize kaviar (yes, caviar) as slang for crap. Well,as far as this film goes, this is not far off. Cibulkova is a fantastic actress but this character, like all the others in this film, is sadly one dimensional. Were one to believe this film, happiness is only to be found in a successful relationship. Thankfully, they do include the relationships of children to their parents but still, it is a simplistic and frustrating way to approach life. Worse yet, watching characters sabotage themselves then fall into deus ex machina solutions is maddening. Not even the pathetic comeuppance saved for the most loathsome character can offset the vapidity of the situations surrounding the entire plot. One keeps saying to oneself, "No one could possibly be that stupid!" Guess again. This film is worthwhile only to make the viewer feel vastly superior. Watch it for Cibulkova, if at all. She's worth the effort if you catch this on TV.
