San Sebastian to unspool Stone's 'Fidel'
MADRID -- Oliver Stone's Looking for Fidel will have its world premiere at the 52nd San Sebastian International Film Festival, organizers said Wednesday as they unveiled an eclectic lineup of films to be screened in the Zabaltegi and Horizontes sections. Stone is expected to be on hand to present the interview with Fidel Castro in which he addresses such controversial subjects as recent executions of young people who tried to escape the island and imprisonment of intellectuals. Fidel will be part of the Zabaltegi section, along with three other political documentaries, Benjamin Avila's Nietos (Memory and Identity) from Argentina, about the grandmothers of Buenos Aires' Plaza de Mayo; Manuel Palacios' Rejas en la Memoria, about post-Spanish Civil War concentration camps; and Eterio Ortega's Perseguidos from Spain, an examination of terrorism in the Basque region.
