Film Review: ‘Corbin Nash’

Film Review: ‘Corbin Nash’
“So it begins” is a pretty optimistic line on which to end a would-be franchise-starter — and one not necessarily warranted by “Corbin Nash,” a solemnly silly mashup of ideas from “Blade,” “Batman” and “Sin City,” accomplished on a much lower budget than any of those far, far better films. Still, it’s a movie that’s resourcefully accomplished on comparatively slim means, and less choosy fantasy action fans will find things to enjoy in its foamy cocktail of vampires, kickboxing and neo-noir. Others may be drawn by the bizarro factor of top-billed Corey Feldman as a campily cross-dressing bloodsucker.

Regardless, this is the kind of not exactly good movie that a certain type of fanboy (or girl) will pronounce good fun, or at least a passable guilty pleasure. Marking the second feature for the English Jagger Brothers — Ben directs, Dean stars; both produced and had a hand in the screenplay — this U.

‘Metropolis: Lux Obscura’ Review (Nintendo Switch)

Metropolis: Lux Obscura is a peculiar mix of gritty noir motion-comic and match-3 elements. Although this seems a somewhat strange combination and the game definitely has its flaws, I found myself strangely addicted to it.

The game opens with the protagonist character, Lockhart, being released from prison and returning by bus to New York, where he instantly gets back into his old criminal ways, which entail introducing his fists to other people’s faces at great speed. The game is split cleanly in two halves. As we follow Lockhart on his journey, we are treated to top-quality comic style graphics that wouldn’t look out of place in a DC graphic novel, they are easily one of the strongest points of the game. I wish the same could be said for the voice acting and writing, but no, it can’t. The sound design overall is ok, the music can

‘The Sandlot’ Turns 25: From Smalls to Squints, Where Are They Now? (Photos)

‘The Sandlot’ Turns 25: From Smalls to Squints, Where Are They Now? (Photos)
At the end of “The Sandlot,” the narrator explains how each of the kids ended up as each one fades from the screen. Some moved away, Benny the Jet made it to the big leagues, and Squints married Wendy Peffercorn. Earlier, TheWrap explored why some movies will be remembered but “The Sandlot” will never die. But 25 years later, we’ll explore where the film’s actors actually ended up.

Tom Guiry – Scotty Smalls

After making his film debut with “The Sandlot,” Tom Guiry continued to pursue acting and landed roles in “Mystic River,” “The Revenant” and “Black Hawk Down.” He most recently starred in “Wonder Wheel” and “Sollers Point.”

Mike Vitar – Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez

Mike Vitar continued his reputation as a sporty, teen heartthrob by appearing in both “Mighty Ducks” sequels “D2” and “D3.” His last acting role was in 1997 for a show called “Chicago Hope,” at which point he retired and became a firefighter. But in 2015, Vitar was charged with assault and reached a plea deal to avoid time behind bars in 2017.

Chauncey Leopardi – Squints

Leopardi spoke with TheWrap and says he’s keeping busy with a family and some businesses, as well as appearing at events for “The Sandlot” whenever he can. As an actor he’s also starred in “Freaks and Geeks,” “Gilmore Girls” and most recently “Coldwater” in 2013.

Patrick Renna – Ham

Originally from Boston, Patrick Renna still acts. Outside of “The Sandlot,” he had a memorable leading role in “The Big Green” while still young. More recently, he starred in episodes of “Boston Legal,” “Judging Amy” and 2016’s “Fear, Inc.”

Marty York – Yeah-Yeah

In addition to seriously bulking up, Marty York appeared in episodes of “Boy Meets World” and “The Eric Andre Show.”

Brandon Quintin Adams – Kenny DeNunez

Brandon Quintin Adams, also just Brandon Adams, had small roles in other ’90s hits “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “Sister-Sister” and “Moesha.” He also did a voice for “Kingdom Hearts 2” and has recorded music as a rapper under the name B. Lee.

Grant Gelt – Bertram Grover Weeks

Grant Gelt had a few acting roles after “The Sandlot,” including “Boy Meets World” and “Hey Arnold!,” but he now works as a music manager.

Victor Dimattia – Timmy Timmons

Victor Dimattia went on two direct two short films and appeared in the 2018 indie “Get Married Or Die.”

Shane Obedzinski – Tommy “Repeat” Timmons

Unlike his onscreen counterpart, Shane Obedzinski didn’t directly follow in the footsteps of his onscreen brother. After leaving acting, he opened a pizza shop in Florida, but was glad to join in for the 20th anniversary festivities.

Marley Shelton – Wendy Peffercorn

Marley Shelton, who played the lifeguard all the boys are gaga over in “The Sandlot” Wendy Peffercorn, has starred in “Sin City,” “Planet Terror,” “Never Been Kissed,” “Death Proof,” “Scream 4” and more. She currently stars on the series “Rise” and will next be seen in Dwayne Johnson’s “Rampage.”

Denis Leary – Bill, Scott’s Stepdad

Taking a role as a fairly straight-laced, if imposing stepdad was a departure for the firebrand comedian back in 1993, but he would eventually move into far more dramatic roles on “Rescue Me” and more. And thankfully, he’s still a fan of “The Sandlot.”

Karen Allen – Scott’s Mom

Following “The Sandlot,” Karen Allen would reprise her more famous role as Marion in “Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.” She most recently starred in “Year by the Sea” in 2016.

James Earl Jones – Mr. Mertle

It’s like he never really left!

Benicio del Toro Named President Of Un Certain Regard Jury At Cannes 2018

Benicio del Toro has been named as the president of the Un Certain Regard jury at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. The festival made the news public this morning via an officia release.

Born in Puerto Rico, raised in Pennsylvania, he is an artist who knows no boundaries. He is a great admirer of Jean Vigo and Charlie Chaplin and would have loved to have met Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, Toshiro Mifune or Humphrey Bogart. When he was 20 years old, he discovered The 400 Blows and the infinite universe of Fellini, Eisenstein, Bergman, Eustache, Kurosawa… The Naked Island of Kaneto Shindô became his go-to film.

At 6 feet 2, Benicio Del Toro always dreamt of becoming a basketball player but became an actor instead. His intense and magnetic presence on the screen makes him sleek and attractive. A chameleon with a thousand faces: a mild-mannered gangster (The Usual Suspects, 1995), an eccentric moustachioed lawyer (Las Vegas Parano,

Netflix Teams Up With Frank Miller to Develop a King Arthur Series Based on His Cursed Novel

Last week we learned that legendary comic book writer and artist Frank Miller would be developing an illustrated novel called Cursed, which is based on the King Arthur legend, Lady of the Lake. Well, Netflix has already picked up the rights to the book and they will be developing it as a 10-episode TV series.

Miller is working on the book with writer Thomas Wheeler (Lego: Ninjago Movie) and according to Deadline, the same creative team who are working on the book will also be working on the series simultaneously. Its said that they will actually get to explore the characters in more detail in the series than in the book. So... I guess I'll just wait for the series.
