Trivia

Starting in episode 46 in season 3, the weapon reticules (the circular targets which corresponded with pistols and the rectangular targets in episodes 43, 44, and 45) were effectively removed from the series. As explained on the www.redvsblue.com forums, this was done by filming the series in "Oddball" rules, and giving the cameraman in the game the "Plasma Pistol" weapon. "Oddball" involves a character switching his weapon for a ball-like object. The makers found that if the cameraman had this certain weapon and were to hold a combination of the buttons to pick up the Oddball, switch weapons, and drop the Oddball, all at the same time, he would drop his weapon but be able to move away from the Oddball so that he would end up empty-handed. Thus, having no weapons, the cameraman automatically had no reticule, and the biggest bonus to the makers of the series, no weapons means no idle reloading animation that had created problems while filming in the past. Quotes

Tucker: Church, it hasn't been the best holiday, but I think I found the perfect gift for you. Merry Christmas buddy.
Church: I thought we agreed not to get each other anything this year.
Tucker: No we didn't.
Church: Oh. Well, maybe I'm mistaken.
Tucker: Mistaken? You specifically told me to get you something.
Church: I did?
Tucker: You gave me a catalogue with stuff circled in it.
Church: Huh, doesn't ring a bell.
Tucker: You set a budget for us, between 300 and 350.
Church: Oh well, I guess its just one of those things.

a heapload of funny bull***t.
26 April 2004 | by nipheonSee all my reviews

this series is great. I am not too familiar with comedys done using games (and I know there are some), but I suppose this one is the the best. Its obvious that those guys know how to write funny scripts, and combined with the totally off-the-hook engine of halo, this becomes something great. First, there are loads of great quotable lines, like "Why are there 6 pedals if there are only 4 directions ?" "I always wanted to tell him that he is my son. - Oh, is he ? - No, I just wanted to p*** him off one last time." "Bumpmapping, yeah ? I have some bumps you can map right here !", "Why didnt you bury me ? - With what ? we only have rifles ! what do you want us to do ? shoot you a grave ?"

Secondly, its great that they use the limitations of the game Halo itself for some great effects, like the one where the warthog flips on top of the red (?) base, or the blue sticky grenade sticking on the neck of one of the guys.

Really, this is awesome, and I know I will miss it when its over.
