Trivia

When Tala (Nicaela Weigel) beckons Eddie (Jon Voight) to come to her in the river, she calls him with her palm facing up. In Asian cultures, including Filipino culture, it is incorrect to call someone over with the palm facing up. A Filipino girl would only call another person over with the palm facing down, reserving the "palm up" gesture for animals. See more »

Goofs

There are two boys on a ride. Eddie helps the one boy get out and he is handed a blue balloon. Then he helps the other boy out and his wife Marguerite hands that boy a yellow balloon. The camera then pans over to the boys heading to their mom but both boys are holding blue balloons instead of one blue and one yellow. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Ruby: [narrating] This is a story about a man named Eddie. And it begins at the end, with Eddie dying in the sun. You might think it's strange to start a story with an ending, but all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.

Great Movie !!!
7 December 2004 | by sdb42351See all my reviews

Usually, a movie adapted from a book does not live up to expectations. I received the book last Christmas, and after reading it, I felt that if done correctly, it would make a good movie. This movie surpassed it's expectation and did the job. If a person had not read the book previous to watching the movie, it may have been hard to follow the flow. I could identify with every major event in the movie and felt the screen writers, producers, directors and actors, all did a marvelous job of bringing Mitch Albom's writings to life. I hope that sometime in the near future this movie is released to DVD format. Mitch Albom has a special gift in the fact that he is both a great talk show personality and an even greater author.
