The show's beginning date took place, chronologically, after it was aired. The show aired in Canada on September 18, 2007 and aired in the U.S. on September 19, 2007. The show starts on Wednesday September 23, 2007 and ends on Saturday September 26, 2007. Thus, all dates in the Pilot fall after their air date.

Every episode title is a word play on the title of a movie.
When the show was criticized by the Parent Television Council for being "mind-blowingly inappropriate" and "every parent's nightmare," those exact phrases were in the show's promotional posters.
The CW did not want Ed Westwick to play Chuck Bass, insisting that "He looked more like a serial killer than a romantic lead."
Long before they played star-crossed lovers Dan and Serena, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively were home schooled together as children.

Was originally pitched as a feature with Lindsay Lohan as Blair Waldorf & Justin Chatwin set to play Nate Archibald. When that fell through, its backers (who had the rights to the stories) approached Josh Schwartz about turning it into a series.
There was a mini-series of webisodes starring Zuzanna Szadkowski, called "Chasing Dorota," about Dorota and her friendship with Nate's British housekeeper, Jane, and Chuck's Russian housekeeper, Larissa.
The second to last song to be played in the series was "You've Got the Love" by Florence and the Machine. The band was a recurring one during the last seasons, a circumstance that made them gain popularity.

There was a rumor that Jenny was going to have a spin-off show when she went to boarding school, but instead, Taylor Momsen left the show to pursue her music career.

This show was re-adapted for the Spanish audience as Gossip Girl: Acapulco (2013). Premiering on August 5, 2013, the show ended on September 6, 2013 with no second season renewal. The first and only season consisted of twenty-five episodes.
Many of the cast, crew, and writers read the Reality Index religiously, and things like Serena's notorious Cleavage Rhombus kept reappearing in the show.

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

Kristen Bell, the infamous voice of "Gossip Girl" over the show's entire six-season run, gushed that she wished she had gotten to play "some vicious part and actually come out as Gossip Girl" in the final season of the series.
Blake Lively, Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley are the only cast members to appear in every episode (Kristen Bell is heard in every episode, but does not actually appear onscreen until the finale).
Penn Badgley did not know that Dan was "Gossip Girl" until right before that scene was shot.
Blake Lively was fitted for Serena's wedding dress the day after her actual wedding to Ryan Reynolds.
Dan was almost revealed to be "Gossip Girl" in the pilot episode. In a test screening, audiences assumed that Dan was "GG" because of a shot where he is typing as the voice-over happens, so the scene was edited.
Chuck and Blair were not initially supposed to end up together, but producers saw the chemistry between Ed and Leighton that they decided to make Chuck and Blair happen
The writers and producers always intended for Chuck and Blair to end up together.
In the final episode, it is revealed that Jenny and Blair finally mended their friendship. Jenny carries a "J by Waldorf" bag, which producer Stephanie Savage revealed that meant she had her own line with Blair's company.
There are several times in Season 4, during Blair's engagement/wedding to Prince Louis, where Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) refers to Blair (Leighton Meester) as "The Princess Bride." Wallace Shawn) played Vizzini in the movie The Princess Bride (1987).
In the 2011 movie 'monte carlo' Leighton meester quotes she is staying in the gremaldi suite in the hotel de Paris and in season 5 Blair (Leighton meester ) is set to get married to Louis gremaldi in Monte Carlo on November 26th 2011.
Cyrus Rose refers to Blair as the "princess bride" when he sees her in her wedding dress. Wallace Shawn, the actor who plays Cyrus, stars in the The Princess Bride (1987).
