Pop Searches For “Modern Grown Ups” With British Mystery Drama ‘Clique’

Pop, the joint venture between CBS and Lionsgate, believes that British mystery drama Clique can be the next Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl as it searches for “modern grown ups” to help it become “The CW 2.0”.

Justin Rosenblatt, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, at the network told Deadline that the psychological thriller, which was created by Skins’ Jess Brittain, was a “really fun ride” that he hopes will help the channel move to the next level.

The first season of Clique, which is produced by BBC Studios and Balloon Entertainment, will launch on Pop on November 7 at 10pm, while the second season, which Pop has come on board as a co-producer, will launch in line with British network BBC Three early next year.

The first season found Holly, played by Synnove Karlsen, drawn to a group of alluring, confident but troubled young women at a university in Edinburgh,

Far from the Shallows Now: Why Blake Lively Is One of the Boldest and Most Exciting Actors in Hollywood

Far from the Shallows Now: Why Blake Lively Is One of the Boldest and Most Exciting Actors in Hollywood
Blake Lively has a problem as old as the patriarchy that created it: When you’re nothing if not a beautiful woman, you’re nothing if not a beautiful woman. So when Lively became a star after winning the role of it girl Serena van der Woodsen on the CW’s soapy and hyper-sexualized “Gossip Girl,” it was easy for viewers to chisel her down to the most obvious of her charms.

At that nascent stage of Lively’s career — after “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” but before “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2” — it was easy for audiences to conflate her with the character she played on television. Born into an affluent family that already had both feet planted in showbiz, Lively’s first screen credit was in a low-budget film that her father directed, and she landed her first Hollywood part after her brother asked his

Gossip Girl: 20 Things That Make No Sense About Blair And Chuck’s Relationship

The world of Gossip Girl opened our eyes to the true power of social media in high school. As the teens of the wealthy NY families try to deal with school and family, Gossip Girl actively reported on the juiciest stories of the week. Fans continued to tune in for the lavished lifestyles, wild drama, and, of course, their favorite characters. Emerging as one of the most beloved pairs from the show were rich jerk Chuck Bass and snobby socialite Blair Waldorf.

Though the two had very little in common in the beginning, they soon found their common ground in mischief, plotting, and revenge. From there, their attraction grew and soon became a significant focus of the storyline. With their ups and downs of their relationship playing out throughout the course of the show, many fans rooted for “Chair” to make it in the end. Despite being a better fit with Dan,

She's Taller Than Most of Her Costars, but Exactly How Tall Is Blake Lively?
Blake Lively has been busy promoting her newest movie A Simple Favor, and we couldn't help but notice just how much taller she is than her costar Anna Kendrick, who stands at 5'2". This isn't the first time Blake has towered over her fellow actors. Even back when she was Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, she seemed taller than fellow cast members including Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, and Penn Badgley.

So just how tall is Blake Lively? Well, we've got the answer for you: she's 5'10". This may make her much taller than many of her past and current costars, but she's still quite a bit shorter than her husband Ryan Reynolds, who is 6'2". While she often bridges the gap between her and her hubby's heights with sky-high Christian Louboutin stilettos, her killer high heel collection tends to make her tower over everyone else around her. Sorry, Upper East Siders, but Leighton Meester "Wouldn't Wanna Go Back" to Gossip Girl

More than 11 years after the show premiered, Leighton Meester is looking back at her time on Gossip Girl. During a recent interview with Net-a-Porter's weekly digital magazine, the Single Parents actress reflected on playing Upper East Side queen bee Blair Waldorf. "It was a very special time . . . that was filled with challenges that have nothing to do with [Gossip Girl] and also sometimes things that did have something to do with it," she told the publication. "But I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's sort of a time capsule."

While Gossip Girl certainly holds a special place in Meester's heart, she has no interest in putting on Blair's signature headband again. "A lot of the questions that come from it are: 'Do you miss it?' 'Did you love what you wore?' And I understand that, but - and I say this with nothing but love - it is like saying,

Leighton Meester Says Gossip Girl Wasn't the "Healthiest Environment"

Leighton Meester Says Gossip Girl Wasn't the
Leighton Meester has mixed feelings about her time on Gossip Girl. For six seasons, from 2007 to 2012, the 32-year-old actress played Upper East Side socialite Blair Waldorf on the popular CW series (adapted from Cecily von Ziegesar's novels). Meester had been working for years, after leaving her native Florida behind for New York and California. As Meester says in the new issue of PorterEdit, in Manhattan, "I went to school with people who at a really young age felt like they knew what they wanted to do and they were pursuing it." At 14, she relocated to L.A. and picked up small jobs—"a pilot most years, some modeling, commercials, stuff like that"—and then got her diploma early at...

11 New Character Additions That Hurt CW Shows (And 9 That Saved Them)

Every time a television series introduces a new character to the fold, the writers are taking a gamble. Typically, it means that the show was popular enough to make it out of its first season, and a new character can muck with the precarious balance that drew fans in the first place. There's simply no way for writers to get it right every time, meaning that in just about every show, there's a newer character that had a negative impact on the series.

The CW, the TV network formed from the merging of The WB and Upn, has been around for over a decade now, and has turned out dozens of successful (and not so successful) shows, mostly aimed at the teen demographic. Their most famous cultural exports involve superheroes, monsters, and extremely attractive actors, shows like Supernatural, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, and the Arrowverse.

Frequently, these shows' success

‘A Simple Favor’ Is a Sexy, Twisty Neo-Noir

‘A Simple Favor’ Is a Sexy, Twisty Neo-Noir
As he proved with Bridesmaids, Spy and The Heat, director Paul Feig knows how to bring out the scrappy best in actresses (he’s a modern-day George Cukor). And in A Simple Favor, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively shine as they rarely have before. True, the script, adapted by Jessica Sharzer from the Darcey Bell novel, meets at a crossroads between comedy and thriller without deciding which direction to go (our vote: head for the giggles). But until an ending that flies ruinously off the rails, A Simple Favor is

A Simple Favor Review: A Stylish and Delightfully Effective Thriller
Paul Feig decided to do something radically different after directing the female-led Ghostbusters reboot that, to say the least, didn't go as planned. To rebound, he decided to tackle an adaptation of a twisty thriller novel from first-time author Darcey Bell and forgo his usual "comedy first" sensibilities. He's done something the likes of which we've never seen him do before. The result? A Simple Favor may very well be Feig's finest movie to date. It's an incredibly stylish, delightfully effective thriller that would maybe even make Alfred Hitchcock proud.

A Simple Favor starts out simple enough. It centers around Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a single mom who runs a modest vlog on the side for other moms. She winds up befriending Emily (Blake Lively), who is her exact opposite. Fancy clothes, fancy job, ideal husband, seemingly perfect house and life. But as their friendship blossoms, Stephanie sees some of the

A Nancy Drew Series Is Being Developed At The CW

Television is trying once again to create a Nancy Drew series, and this time it's The CW taking a shot at the popular character. The network is developing a project alongside famed producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who are known for Marvel's Runaways, Gossip Girl, and The O.C..

Past incarnations of this television adaptation have featured the character being aged up to her 30s, although it's being said by Deadline this one will put the character back to around 18 years old. It makes sense, considering Schwartz and Savage have found great success in creating teenage dramas, and people tend to respond well to stuff that's closer to the original.

The script is being written by The Magicians Noga Landau and will find Nancy kept from leaving town for college in order to investigate a murder with far deeper secrets than she could've ever imagined.

We'll see if this

Penn Badgley Has No Interest in Being the Next Internet Boyfriend
Spotted: Lonely Boy masturbating outside of his dream girl's apartment in NYC. No, this isn't a storyline from a very twisted revival of Gossip Girl; it's a scene straight out of the premiere of You, Lifetime's new stalker drama starring Penn Badgley.  Of course, Badgley, 31, is best known for playing Dan Humphrey, the too-hipster-to-define-himself-as-a-hipster outsider, for six seasons on The CW's Gossip Girl. And he's also known for being publicly conflicted over the fact that he will probably always be known for playing Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl, which was once a full-blown pop culture phenomenon, shooting Badgley and his then mostly unknown co-stars, including former girlfriend Blake...
