Three interwoven stories about a terrible curse. A young woman encounters a malevolent supernatural force while searching for her missing sister in Tokyo; a mean high school prank goes horribly wrong; a woman with a deadly secret moves into a Chicago apartment building.
Karen Davis, an American Nurse, moves to Tokyo and encounters a supernatural spirit who is vengeful and often possesses its victims. A series of horrifying and mysterious deaths start to occur, with the spirit passing its curse onto each victim. Karen must now find away to break this spell, before she becomes its next victim.Written by
The type of ghost that Kayako and Toshio are is based on the Japanese legend of the Onryo, a vengeful spirit that can actually physically manifest itself to attack and kill victims. See more »
The two gas containers abandoned just beside the door are nowhere to be seen in the scene when Matthiew is leaving the house. In the scenes to follow they are back there especially because they are needed to move on the plot. See more »

The grudge stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as a woman dealing with a house in dire need of therapy. A tragedy happened there a while back and the house just refuses to let the anger go and move on. Basically, it's a slow moving movie, almost exactly like its predecessor, using the same sets and some of the same stars as well. Unfortunately the first movie wasn't that good either, but because it was original I gave it a higher rating than this version. One of my reasons being that the scariest moment in the first movie is about the only scene not duplicated in this remake (that of a woman staring down on the lady in bed while Toshio scratches his legs at the foot of it, as seen in the previews of the original.) Anyway, to sum things up,"The Grudge" has potential to be scary, but it's rather like an excellent set of blueprints drawn in crayon. Something's seriously wrong here.
