Major real-life air disasters are depicted in this TV series. Each episode features a detailed dramatized reconstruction of the incident based on cockpit voice recorders and air traffic control transcripts, as well as eyewitnesses recounts and interviews with aviation experts. Sometimes, interviews with investigators who dealt with the disaster or even actual footage are featured. Written by Sergio Ortega
If you're an aviation buff like me you should love this series. It examines many well-know accidents and does so in a fact-based and compelling manner without being salacious at all.
Each episode begins with a reenactment of the disaster, after which the chain of events responsible is picked apart, followed lastly by the implications and recommendations of the accident investigation. I especially liked how false leads were chased down on the way to eventually arriving at a reasonable probable cause for each incident.
The accidents are heart-breaking, but how they led to improvements in aircraft and aviation rules is important and fascinating. As is remarked in one episode, "Every accident makes flying safer."
