Trivia

Pierce Brosnan was initially asked back by the producers for this film, after the then-record breaking success of Die Another Day (2002). However after seeing The Bourne Identity (2002) and other contemporary spy films raise the bar on realism and physicality in spy films, in addition to Pierce's agent reportedly demanding $30 million plus royalties for Brosnan to return as Bond, the producers reconsidered hiring Brosnan back, opting to cast the role instead with the younger, more virile Daniel Craig to reset the franchise. Goofs

Right before Bond makes the password entry into the keypad, the banking agent tells him "6 letters or more". Since apparently the keypad - although it has letters on it - cannot accept letters as input, he is essentially entering a six-digit numeric password, not an alphanumeric one. See more »

Quotes

James Bond: [Referring to Vesper's necklace] I figured out what that is. It's an Algerian love knot.
Vesper Lynd: Really? I thought it was just something pretty.
James Bond: Oh, no you didn't. Someone gave that to you. He's a very lucky man.

Crazy Credits

The opening credits include the words "Ian Fleming's James Bond." All other Bond movies only have this if it's an original screenplay. When they're based on the novels, regardless of how loosely, they're "Ian Fleming's (name of movie/novel)." See more »

Alternate Versions

US version is cut in the toilet fight and the stairwell fight scene to secure a PG-13 rating. In the later, Obanno's henchmen hitting the ground and Obanno crashing into the glass window are the most obvious cuts. However, additional punches, elbows, and shoving are removed and the struggle at the bottom of the stairwell was heavily shortened. The music score has also been remixed to accommodate the edits, and alternate footage used to smooth over some of the edits. This version was also used for the DVD/Blu-ray release. See more »

A Great Actor As Bond
7 January 2007 | by giorgiosurbaniSee all my reviews

What a difference a great actor makes. Daniel Craig is superb as James Bond and parting from that point everything in it is enjoyable, frightening, thrilling just because we're with him. He conquered us from the word go. The initial chase is one of the best in film history and as soon as we get to know this new incarnation of the iconic Ian Fleming character, we're hooked. He's virile but there is room for ambiguity. He's elegant but as, the sensational Eva Green, points out is more acquired than inherited. More working class than even Sean Connery and that works wonders for Mr Bond. The script is more compact and organic. The locations are breathtaking and what else I can say? The series have been reinvigorated, rejuvenated and in one single stroke have secured that this franchise will live forever. A note to Barbara Broccoli, the producer, your father would be so proud. Congratulations!
