Storyline

Addiction is the story of a young businessman, happily married to a sweet, understanding woman. After accidentally killing a mugger in self-defense, he is caught up in a flood of emotions he doesn't understand...rage, excitement, joy, even lust. This need soon blossoms into desire, desperation and then total dependence, a desperate rush that he cannot live without. And as he slowly alienates himself from his friends, his job, and the only woman who truly loves him, the downward spiral of his life takes hold, and he soon finds he is no better off than the heroin junkies chasing ever-more-elusive highs in dark alleys and forgotten hallways. Murder becomes his passion. His obsession. His compulsion. His Addiction. Written by Johnny LaGuardia

Catacomb of Creepshows 1 (of 50)
22 September 2012 | by movieman_kevSee all my reviews

When perfectly happy workaholic Bobby is accosted by a mugger, a chance encounter that leaves the ill-fated criminal dead lying in a ditch, his seemingly pristine life is turned upside down by incident. Finding himself fascinated by what transpired, his new 'addiction' wrecks havoc on all aspects of his life.

When I first Pendulum Pictures cheap Catacomb of Creepshows 50-film box-set, I did so on a lark. I truly didn't expect any of them to be any good in the conventional sense of the word. So then color me surprised when the first movie out of the gate was not only legitimately good but also kept my rapt attention throughout.

While far from a perfect film, some of the sub-plots are very meandering and don't really seem to advance the main plot much if at all. "Addiction" still has much to recommend it, not the least of which is a captivating performance by Frank Franconeri. He makes for a highly watchable lead. Don't go into this expecting a conventional 'horror' film and you'll be very pleasantly happy with it.
