It’s always a letdown when shows don’t get to shine. Even worse is when a series shows so much potential, but gets canceled after only one season. Many of them go on to become cult classics, but we still have to wonder what could’ve happened if they went on for longer. C’est la vie.

That’s not including the great leads, which instill the characters with an electrifying innocence and humanity. However, the streaming service canceled it after one season.

‘Serenity’ Trailer: Open Wounds Meet Open Water In Steven Knight’s New Thriller
Steven Knight segues from the mean streets of early 1900s Birmingham in Peaky Blinders to the deceptively calm waves of Serenity, his stylized thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. ‘Serenity’ Trailer: Matthew McConaughey & Anne Hathaway Star In A Sexy Thriller At Sea

There’s a lot going on in the new trailer for “Serenity.” The premise seems basic enough — a fishing boat captain is approached by a mysterious woman, who asks him to kill her abusive husband. But then again, that wouldn’t make for an interesting film, would it? That’s when the craziness of the trailer begins. You have a small island where everyone knows everyone, with an eclectic cast of characters including a small, obviously evil man who knows more than he lets on.

First Trailer for Steven Knight's 'Serenity' with Matthew McConaughey

"This is about temptation. There's right and wrong." Aviron Pictures has released the official trailer for a film titled Serenity, not to be confused with the sci-fi feature of the same name based on the "Firefly" TV series. This Serenity is the latest movie from British screenwriter/director Steven Knight and it's about a mysterious fishing boat captain, played by Matthew McConaughey. It's described as a "daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller." The mysterious past of this fishing boat skipper living in the Caribbean comes back to haunt him, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be what it all seems. The full cast of Serenity includes Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane, Kenneth Fok, Robert Hobbs, and Rafael Sayegh. This looks very surreal and dream-like, with some odd bloody moments hidden within. I'm very curious, though not sure what to make of it yet.
